Café Buur in Cologne absolutely lived up to its reputation as one of the trendiest brunch spots in the city!
We tried several dishes, and every plate looked like a work of art. The vanilla ice cream pancake was indulgent and delicious, with the rich ice cream slowly melting over a perfectly cooked pancake, fresh strawberries, and a drizzle of chocolate. The scrambled egg brioche sandwich was fluffy and flavorful, topped with a slightly spicy sauce and fresh herbs — a simple but satisfying combination.
The Eggs Benedict were fantastic too: poached eggs with silky hollandaise sauce on toasted English muffins, served with beautifully sliced avocado and pickled vegetables for a fresh touch. The crispy fish bao buns were a surprise highlight — light, fluffy bao filled with crunchy fried fish and a creamy dressing, absolutely bursting with flavor.
And of course, we paired everything with their smooth coffees, which came with a little sweet bite on the side — a nice, thoughtful detail that made the experience even better.
Despite how busy the café was, the service was friendly and efficient. It’s clear that Café Buur takes both its food and vibe seriously, making it the perfect place for an unforgettable brunch. Highly recommend booking ahead if you want to avoid waiting — it’s popular for good reason!
I’ll definitely be coming back to try even more from their...
Read moreThe star goes only for the food. The food was delicious in this place however I wouldn't come back here and here is why: I can understand that you can't book a table and you have to queue. Nevertheless when we were in the queue waiting for over 1 hour to be seated a group of people came to the entrance (2 girls) and when they saw the queue they made a phone call to which the manager came outside they spoke and then the manager went back inside. The girls made another call and then the person organising the queue told them that they can go inside. They were 4 and we were also 4 waiting. At the end we realised that a kolisch football player was one of them. We were trully disappointed to see how they were treated differently just because of that. This is really sad.. they offered us a free ginger shot when we went in but there is no excuse to treat us or anyone else like this. Rememeber this story when you want to visit a place that only cares about the appearance and how famous they are on...
Read moreFood is good, however all staff but one waiter (wish I recalled his name-I only gave 2 stars and not one because of him) are very rude! I am an expat living here in Koln, have been to this place twice before and I will not be going back after my last experience. I had an issue with my meal and I asked to speak with manager/owner after my waiter did not want to help me out and was very rude about it. Very nicely I explained to the manager/owner what my issue was yet he was very rude and inconsiderate. He did not offer to change anything on our order/bill or in general help out with the issue in any way. Because of this behavior I would not recommend this place since there are other places around the area with great service and good food! Restaurants are not only about food but also service and respectful behavior towards the...
