Fantastic Vietnamese food and Sushi in Cologne.

This charming little restaurant in Cologne truly surprised us with its warm atmosphere and delicious mix of Vietnamese dishes and sushi. The interior is beautifully decorated with wooden panels and soft lantern lighting, creating a cozy and welcoming vibe from the moment you step in.

We ordered a variety of starters to share like papaya salad with shrimp, mango salad, seared beef salad, sweet and sour salmon soup, and vermicelli noodle salad with spring rolls. Everything was super fresh and tasty. The salads stood out for their perfect balance of sweet, sour, and savory notes. The use of fresh fruit combined with fish sauce gave wonderful depth to the dishes. The beef was tender, and the sweet and sour soup was one of the best we’ve had.

The spring rolls, wrapped in rice paper, offered a refreshing twist from the usual version. They were crispy, flavorful and generously portioned.

Shortly after finishing the starters, our sushi platter arrived. It was artfully presented on a wooden board making the experience feel even more special. The salmon was fresh and buttery, and even the tuna and surimi were mild and delicious. The crispy salmon roll was a favorite.

Service was friendly and efficient. Although we were told there might be a slight wait for the sushi we didn’t mind at all. The starters kept us more than satisfied and the quality of the food made everything worth it.

A small and charming eatery tucked in the corner of the street—clean, new, and decorated with a strong Japanese vibe. The owner is very friendly, always smiling, and constantly checking in to make sure everything is okay. And of course, everything is more than okay—the food and drinks are delicious, and the staff are warm and attentive. The portions are generous, tasty, and reasonably priced. For a place located in the center of Cologne, the prices are very fair, making it well worth coming back again and again. Highly recommended, everyone!

Wir lieben vietnamesisches Essen und waren auch schon mehrmals in Vietnam im Urlaub. Als wir hörten, dass eine neue Fusion Cuisine bei uns in Mülheim eröffnet hat, mussten wir diese natürlich ausprobieren.

Man kann sehr schön draußen sitzen neben den Bambus-Pflanzen. Man sollte recht früh abends da sein, weil man dann noch einen Platz im Schatten bekommt.

Der Service ist wirklich herausragend und sehr gut, alle sind super freundlich und bemüht.

Wir haben verschiedene Kleinigkeiten von der Karte bestellt, die wirklich alle sehr lecker waren - bis auf den Reisnudelsalat. Der war leider heiß und die Nudeln zerkocht. Die Marinade schmeckte nur salzig. Da fehlte ganz klar Limette, Fischsoße und Chili. Unsere restliche Bestellung war aber sehr gut: Wir hatten Spicy Tuna Sushi, Bo La Lot (Betelblätter mit Hackfleisch) und Frühlingsrollen als Vorspeise. Alles war super lecker, auf Nachfrage habe ich auch noch Kräuter bekommen (weil wir die Spring Rolls und die BoLaLot in Salat mit Kräuter einwickeln wie wir es in Vietnam gelernt haben). Mein Freund hatte als Hauptgang das Bandnudelgericht aus Hoi An (Nr 43), was auch sehr lecker war. Als ich meinen heißen Reisnudelsalat zurückgab, stornierte mir der Chef netterweise das Gericht und ich konnte etwas anderes bestellen. Ich entschied mich für das Karage (super saftig und knusprig) und das Matcha-Eis (sooo cremig 🥰). Alles in allem werden wir auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Eine Anmerkung zum Schluss: manche Deutsche haben seltsame Geschmacksvorlieben. Es wäre schade, wenn sich das Essen im Tomoki zu sehr daran anpassen würde und es so die Authentizität...
