From the moment I walked into BaBa Sushi on Münsterstraße, I knew I was in for something special. The cozy, authentically Japanese décor struck the perfect balance—vibrant yet intimate, lively without the clamor of a packed food court .
My dining companion and I indulged in a variety of dishes—from velvety tuna nigiri and Tamago to crisp gyoza and a delightfully creamy Thai-style curry. Every bite reflected an unwavering commitment to freshness and flavor, a testament to the chef’s skill .
Though understandably busy, the team’s attentiveness stood out: we were swiftly moved from a breezy entrance spot to a quieter table, ensuring our comfort throughout the meal . Our glasses were refilled promptly, questions answered with a genuine smile, and we never felt neglected—even amidst the buzz .
Highlights included the beautifully arranged “Sumo Platte” (perfect for a trio), the crunchy rolls that dazzled both on the plate and the palate, and a refreshing homemade iced tea that rounded off the meal gracefully .
Yes, it’s cash-only and bustling—so reservations are a must—but that only adds to the charm and allure . In a city brimming with sushi spots, BaBa Sushi stands proudly as a top-tier gem—offering impeccable quality, friendly service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommend for any sushi aficionado seeking an unforgettable experience...
Read moreBaBa is cool and instragramable, which is probably the main reason why people come to this place. Food cannot be it.
Reservations guarantee you a table, but not that you will be sat on time. We arrived at 20h30, which was our reservation time, and only got a table around 21h. Entrance is a bit messy, but in the end, they have it under control. You just need to be patient.
Food wise, mayonese ruined what could have been a reasonable meal. This is not an authentic sushi restaurant, here fusion reigns with shouting flavours and textures. Fish and vegetables are fresh and have a decent ratio over rice. However, you cannot distinguish different rolls as everything is submerged in mayonese based sauces. Fusion is ok, melting sushi principles is not. Here more is less and flavour simplicity stays at the door. Plating is also over the top, although eye pleasing.
If you are on a quest to try all sushi restaurants in Düsseldorf or if you are looking for a place serving meals after 22h, BaBa should be on your list. Other than that, you...
Read moreThe service in Baba is appalling. I booked a reservation for me and my wife by 8pm, we arrived by 7:45 waiting for our table. We told them of our reservation but it was clear no seats were reserved, to make matters worse, by 8:10 an employee walked past us to speak to the couples behind to offer them a table, like we didn’t exist. The restaurant isn’t organized, their booking systems are just a waste of time and the food was a huge let down (the sushi was mid at best but the Pho was a total disappointment). Also, we waited close to 45mins for the food after placing our order and at the end we were told the restaurant only accepts payment by cash. How is that the only means of payment at a restaurant in 2025?🤦🏿♂️ Honestly, it wasn’t worth the hassle and I wouldn’t...
