Oh my goodness, what a pleasant surprise this place is. I recently moved to this area and have passed by it so many times, but never noticed it due to its small and humble facade. I happened to discover it on Google maps only. I tried the karaage and mackerel bento, it was so so delicious. The hähnchen crispy and juicy, the fish so flavorful. The rice was perfect. The miso soup was a bit bland. (Update: it no longer was in my next visit) The food was served quite fast. 90% of the clientele was Japanese. You know it‘s a legit good restaurant if Japanese flock to it. In the background you can hear a Japanese radio broadcast playing softly. For a moment I felt like I was back in Japan. I‘ll be back here very often to try their other stuff, they have quite a large menu of food and Japanese alcohol.

FOOD & DRINKS If you like Japanese skewers then this is the place to go in Düsseldorf. Forget Kushi-Tei. I think this beats it by a mile and it's because they add more char to the skewers. Also the meat tasted much juicier. What I can’t recommend are the Takoyakis. They were somewhat deep fried. Not bad but not what I want from Takoyakis. SERVICE Just lovely people here. Very friendly service. Just love it. ATMOSPHERE If you really want the feel of an Izakaya this is the place! I really felt being thrown back to Japan and I hate to say it because for me this is another gem that I honestly don’t wish to go widespread and just keep it for myself. RATING Easy five stars. Not everything is amazing but just for the feels I will go back any time.

My favorite restaurant in town! The place is small and cozy, no fuss and always nice people inside. Chef always welcomes with a smile on your way in and the staff is friendly! Most importantly food is delicious, never disappoints and always delivered quickly! My favorite are signature Tan Tam men (ramen) and lachs Mayo don! Must try their fried octopus balls as a starter!

Ich war gerade im „Renya“ essen. Was soll ich sagen?

Komme ich also wieder? Ja!
