I was recommended to come to this cafe by a friend as he advised the coffee was as close as I would get as Sydney (I’m Australian). He also advised the owner was French and I lived in France for a couple of years and I was interested to see his menu. Also the food was suppose to be pretty good. I walked in and the lady at the counter with short blonde hair that makes the coffee did not greet me or smile. When asking for a menu I was told it was written on the wall, mind you the menu is written in German. She obviously knew I only spoke English and did not even bother to ask if I needed any help with the translation. When ordering I asked for eggs, she told me the breakfast menu finished at 11am. I ordered my food and sat down. As soon as I sat down the gentleman sitting next to me, food arrived. A fried egg was on his plate. When approaching the counter to speak to her she walked away to the back and made me wait. I ended up getting the eggs but could not believe how poor the customer service was. Coming from Australia and owning restaurants myself I was shocked to see this service. I definitely will not be returning after today. Such a shame as I’m staying across the road and the coffee and food is pretty good but I won’t be paying for this type of service. To the owner that owns the cafe I hope you read this feedback and speak to this particular lady in relation to good customer service. No customer deserves to receive this treatment especially when I was...
Read moreDelicious food, truly scrumptious. Everything I've tried has been brilliant. The juices and teas are just divine too!
Tiny nitpicks: Poached eggs could use maybe 45 seconds longer as the white is not cooked all the way through. Also I'd warm up the meat slightly on the Benedict dishes so the egg doesn't go cold. Pancakes take forever. Not worth it. Just use regular old American pancake batter, no need for the artisan stuff when it's kids waiting! Save the panache for more intricate dishes.
Only downside is the service. It's a bit chaotic, especially on weekends. It's not clear whether there is or isn't table service and when there is, it's very inattentive and you have to flag waitresses down. Some basic training is needed here. They are super nice and friendly, just need to work on attentiveness and proactivity.
Overall though, well worth a visit....
Read moreIt’s a coffee shop I’d been wanting to visit for a while, and luckily, it was just a five-minute walk from my hotel. As expected, everything was lovely— the coffee, the atmosphere, the quality of the food.
One of the female staff helped me out and she was really friendly, kind, and thoughtful. Since I don’t speak German, she offered me the English menu without me even asking, which I really appreciated.
I ordered the avocado toast on rye bread and it was amazing. The ingredients were fresh, and everything was prepared so well.
The vibe, the service, the food. All of it made me want to...
