W A N D E R E R — Restaurant in Erding

I wondered about the name 'Wanderer' in such a place like Erding, which is synonomus for the Beer which is brewed there. As I read about the man who runs the place is the same soul who also runs its kitchen, with all his 35 years of experience as a culinary chef, travelled around the world, I was sure to be satisfied with the food which it served.

Being a vegetarian I knew it was going to be difficult with choices, so it was as there are only 2 main course dishes for vegetarians.

The homemade freshly baked fermented bread with Mediterranean vegetables, feta, and salad with a splash of honey

the Wild mushroom risotto.

I went for the bread and it surprised my taste buds. Beautiful is the word and delicious was just the pretence.

My friends had the Wiener Schnitzel, mind you the small portion was. Ire than enough for an early lunch at 12pm. The coconut lemon soup with shrimp was a delicate affair of Asian cuisine which obviously something the Chef had mastered.

I was searching for a known restaurant, not so fancy rather more traditional near to me, where I can eat with my wife in an afternoon, and was interesting to see that more reviews was for this Gasthof. A little skeptical, I called and booked a table for the next day. There I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Constantin Anghel ( one of the owners) with this beautiful and soothing place. We found an affordable, diversified menu with an involved and friendly staff. You can get suggestions about food and drinks: in English, Romanian and of course in German. Since everything seems done carefully, the waiting time will not be the same as for "take and drive", but the taste and flavors it was worth it. I can say that it will be tricky to find for the 1st time, but a pleasure to stay. I will definetly go again with my family...

Extravagante Hausmannskost unter neuer Regie ist das, was der "Wanderer" seit der Neueröffnung vor ein paar Tagen zu bieten hat. Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 12 am Samstagabend im Wanderer essen, und ein jeder in der Gruppe (inklusive 4 Kinder) fand seine Gerichte vorzüglich (die Kinder machen das wirklich extrem selten!). Ich selbst hatte als Vorspeise die Blutwurst-Tarte (ein Muss! Tolles Feuerwerk der Gewürze) und den Burger zum Hauptgang. Die Frische und Qualität der Zutaten fand ich ebenso klasse, wie das phantasievolle Anrichten der Speisen. (Ok, an einem Kalbsschnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln lässt sich im Grunde nichts durch Optik verbessern ;-) - aber dennoch fanden wir alle Speisen schön präsentiert). Da ich auch links und rechts mal probieren konnte, werde ich auf jeden Fall das nächste Mal den Fisch in Parmesankruste bestellen...und ganz sicher auch mal das Rinderfilet! Die Preise sind absolut angemessen (Vorspeisen um und Hauptgerichte ab 10 Euro, ein ordentlicher Fisch um die 20, und wer das Rinderfilet haben will, kommt mit 26 Euro weg), und die Getränkekarte passt bestens zu den angebotenen Gerichten. Irgendwann sollten die alten Möbel (zumindest die Stühle) vom Vorbesitzer ausgetauscht werden - nur wegen der altbackenen Optik, ansonsten ist das Ambiente angenehm und im Wesentlichen in drei Bereiche getrennt, so dass keine unangenehm laute Hallen-Atmosphäre entsteht. Bedient wurden wir von den jeweiligen Ehefrauen der Besitzer/Köche und fanden uns in guten Händen - wenn einst die Anspannung der Neueröffnung der verdienten Routine des Erfolges weicht, wird sicher auch mal ein Lächeln mehr zu finden sein... Zu guter letzt kam einer der beiden Köche noch zu uns und hat sich einerseits entschuldigt dafür, dass noch nicht alles in top Geschwindigkeit funktioniert (hatten wir so nicht empfunden) und uns auch andererseits einen Einblick in seine Ideen, in die Herkunft seiner Zutaten und einen Ausblick auf kommende Events gegeben.
