My husband, adult son and myself had the pleasure of staying at the Stadthotel Erding for one night in early October of 2012. My husband and I had stayed one night in Erding (at a different hotel) two years previously and happened to have dinner at the Stadthotel's restaurant, Trattoria dal Vecchio. I remembered that the restauant advertised hotel rooms so that is how we came to be staying at this hotel this trip. We like to stay at towns near the Munich airport the night before our departure flight and Erding is very convenient to the airport. Very easy 15 minute drive to the airport. ||||I had emailed the hotel months prior to our trip stating our needs and received a nice prompt reply from the owner, Giuseppe De Matteis. We needed two rooms, a double for single occupancy and a double for double occupancy. The pricing was very good with the single occupancy being Euro 69 and the double occupancy being Euro 89, breakfast included. The double my husband and I shared was very spacious (room #26) and was facing the back of the hotel away from the main street (I had requested a quiet room and it was). Our sons' room (# 24) was also on the back of the hotel and he said it was quiet also. The hotel has an elevator to all floors which is rare for small hotels and very welcome. I had settled our bill when we checked in as we were departing fairly early the next morning. The lovely breakfast buffet was set up and available at 7 AM but we only had time for a quick cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal. I wish we could have enjoyed the other breakfast offerings but we needed to get to the airport. We had parked our car directly infront of the hotel on the street but I think I remember that there was parking available in a private enclosed courtyard at the hotel, maybe for a small fee.||||We did get to enjoy a very good meal at the hotel's restaurant the evening we checked in. We each had spaghetti served three different ways and each of us loved our meal. The decorations in the restaurant are lovely and it was a pleasant meal. ||||Erding is a very nice small town very close to the Munich airport and the Stadthotel Erding and its restaurant come very highly recommended. Thank you Mr, De Matteis and all your staff for...
Read moreAt first we weren't certain at all about our choice. We arrived in Erding, entered the hotel and had a bit of confusion about how to check in. Finally, we went up a flight of stairs, had an elderly gentleman ring a bell and then knock on a door downstairs to get a gentleman in striped chef pants who spoke little English to come to the registration desk and hand us registration forms and a key. We discovered he was the chef and owner. Our room, #29 faced the street. It was large and seemingly stuck in the 90's or late 80's in terms of decor. Interesting features were the stickon mailbox room numbers on the door and the artificial ivy covering the fire extinguisher in the hall. The bathroom was very clean.Shower was small but with good water pressure and temp. Beds were comfortable. The town is near the Munich airport, scenic, and charming. But the best feature was the wonderful restaurant downstairs which provided us with an outstanding meal (lasagne, spaghetti amatriciana, Nero d'avola house wine) for a very reasonable price.Service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast(included in rate) was delicious with meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, boiled eggs. The owners and son were pleasant and made us feel welcome. Even though the rooms were dated, we had a very pleasant stay there and would definitely...
Read moreWe picked this hotel because of its proximity to the airport and 85 euro price for a double room. We also noted its fine reviews. Our incoming plane was very late and we only arrived at 11pm. They kept the restaurant downstairs open for us to have a pizza. The town had a real Bavarian feel to it with several large churches. The shops looked very top notch ( the hotel is on a main street but it's not that busy except on Friday and Saturday nights), we were in room 22 on the front side of the hotel.|We resolved to return to the hotel on our way back to the US after skiing. We arrived midday in order to explore the Christkindlmarkt and other shops. Wonder of wonders a four story department store with all the best brands, Gruber, was directly opposite the hotel. We ate our evening meal in the Trattoria and I had the pork with the wild mushrooms which was superb. We left at 7 am on a Sunday morning and they were able to give us coffee even though the restaurant usually only opens at 7:30. We highly recommend this hotel.|If you plan a visit on the weekend I suggest you take a room at the back. The rooms are ok and the hotel has...
