Dhaba@49 - The Indian Rasoi — Restaurant in Essen

I really enjoyed their lamb biriyani! It included bits of spice seeds in the rice, which I love, and a nice serving of tender lamb. I haven’t found a place that seriously seasons their food well in Europe until I got food from Akki’s. It has helped me overcome some homesickness, as I miss having authentic ethnic foods in America. I will be ordering frequently from Akki’s whenever I’m in town! Compared to the level of seasoning I’m used to, Akki’s biriyani is slightly below the average amount of seasoning I’m used to from Indian households, but it has the highest amount compared to other places I’ve eaten at in Europe.

I also ordered their Non-Veggie Thali, but I think I wouldn’t notice the difference between their Veggie and Non-Veggie Thali. It is tasty and I had some fresh roti come with it, which I wasn’t expecting - bonus! :)

My order came with a free piece of sweet dessert (gulab jamun I think) and side of delicious pickled peppers (I don’t know what these peppers are called, but they are very tasty and I’d buy more if I knew what they’re called!). I can’t stop thinking about their peppers...

Very generous restaurant with tasty food. Can’t wait...

Disappointing Experience It was our go to place to order Indian food as it was decent with food and price . However yesterday they sent us chicken biryani when order was placed for vegetarian one. It’s one job to take the order and prepare and sent.

I'm extremely disappointed with Dhaba@49 after receiving a non-vegetarian dish when I specifically ordered vegetarian food. Despite clearly specifying my dietary preference, the restaurant failed to deliver.

The dish contained chicken, which was not only a mistake but also a breach of my dietary trust. As someone who follows a vegetarian diet, it's frustrating to encounter such carelessness.

I hope the restaurant takes steps to improve their communication to staff who prepares and packs to ensure this doesn't...

Good and tasty food. Good Behaviour of staffs. Not good for big group but for small family and friend it is good. Take way is the best option here. nice presentation of rice; chicken tikka was tasty.. mango lassi was bit expensive but was tasty .... Daal tadka was average. Garlic naam was good. location is good . near by to ESSEN HBF.... from HBF you can take Tram (bahnstraße) 105 / 101 and get down at Essen Kronprinzenstr... and walk 1 minute.... We tried here twice .. one day for lunch and one day for dinner... If you like Indian food you can try here. Washroom/WC is available on...
