La Tombola — Restaurant in Essen

I was really astonished about the high reviews regarding this place and decided to check it out. Having lived in both Rome and the south of Italy I have had some quite good pizzas and was expecting that this might be the same level. Untill I tried it. I guess the people who eat hear regularly either have not been to Italy or have never had a good pizza. La Tombola's pizza was dry and had paprika that tasted like from a can (the second was really shocking to me). So you can imagine if I will go there again. It really shocked me because for the last few years I have been also to (almost all) the other pizzerias in 500m line radius - which are 5 more - and all of the other 5 tasted better than Tombola. So, if you like mediocre, you will be pleased here, but if you expect the best, or near - you have to go...

I have been at this place a couple of times. However, I will no longer go there for two reasons: The pizza is not good. Too little toppings make the pizza dry - I have been here three times. In all cases, the pizza didn't have sufficient toppings However, the main reason why I have decided not to go there anymore is the owner. He is quite unfriendly and very arrogant.

There are certainly other places where I can spend my money to get a decent service...

Die Pizzeria La Tombola in Essen-Werden ist für mich eine absolute Entdeckung – und das will etwas heißen, denn ich habe schon unzählige Pizzen probiert. Aber hier habe ich definitiv die beste Pizza seit Jahrzehnten gegessen! Der Teig ist perfekt: außen knusprig, innen luftig und aromatisch. Der Belag ist frisch, mit hochwertigen Zutaten und einfach genau so, wie eine echte Pizza sein sollte.

Auch das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm – gemütlich, familiär und herzlich. Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Der Service ist aufmerksam und freundlich, sodass man sich rundum wohlfühlt.

Für mich steht fest: Wer in Essen-Werden eine Pizza essen möchte, kommt an La Tombola nicht vorbei. Absolute Empfehlung und für mich ab sofort die Nummer 1 in...
