Let me start by saying their crepes are delicious and the plates are thoughtfully prepared, everything is organic, and the coffee is quite good (good coffee around here is not as common as one might expect). The room is tiny and quaint and the atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Although I must admit I personally liked the place more when it was darker and it had a hip vibe (when it used to be called the Eule). Now it feels more like grandma’s kitchen (and maybe that’s the point).
But it is a little expensive. The location at the foot of the castle (Hohes Schloß) is surely part of the reason. And of course, organic food costs more. But as a local it is difficult to justify going there regularly because it feels like it’s just a tiny bit more expensive than it should be because of the tourists.
Thus, I am very torn/conflicted about rating this place. I would give it 5 stars easily because of the attention given to the plates, the quality of the ingredients, and because it’s delicious. But for the same price one could eat a light dinner at some of the best restaurants in town, therefore I can only give it 4 stars.
In a nutshell: Indulge in the crepes in this cozy and friendly space but be prepared to pay...

This small café is truly a hidden gem! From the moment you step inside, it feels like home—cozy, welcoming, and full of heart. The fresh bread is absolutely divine, made with care and served warm. The food is prepared on the spot, ensuring every bite is as fresh and delicious as it can be.
What makes this café even more special are the small, thoughtful details. The tablecloths, with their intricate embroidery, reminded me of my mother’s home. The plates, saucers, and cups add a nostalgic charm, as if they were lovingly chosen from a family collection. Even the paintings on the walls seem to tell stories of warmth and tradition.
I was lucky to visit earlier in the day and found a table, but it’s worth noting that the café is quite small, so it’s usually a good idea to book ahead. It fills up quickly, and I can see why! Every aspect of this place speaks of love and care, from the kind people who run it to the food they serve. I especially adored the bread—simply unforgettable!

Read moreAt first sight a nice little romantic Café but the service was poor. First they forgot our second pancake then the boiled eggs arrived hard instead of soft. We then were blamed for still eating the eggs… How could we have known if the eggs we hard or soft without first opening them. The orange juice didn’t taste very “Bio”, we would have expected a fresh-pressed juice. To be fair, they offered to still make the pancake (which was apparently not processed in the order) and to boil new eggs, but it would have still cost us another half an hour or parking fees nearby so no thank you. We at first didn’t want to pay for the eggs but they were not very forthcoming so we saved them them and us the time… So to conclude a romantic turned very touristic Café with no understanding on how to handle...
