Bockenheimer Weinkontor — Restaurant in Frankfurt

Unfortunately the rating of this place is really not deserved and probably relies on old reviews. The wine is really not the best quality and a short google search will show you that the bottles are really rather low quality and have a complete disconnect with the prices (more so than in other places).

There is no service at the table, you have to queue, order and pay inside. It's only cash and no cards are accepted. None of our rather large group got a receipt (taxes ;)). The glasses, cutlery and dishes are cheapest of the cheap. The snacks are also supermarket "can" type, but still took forever to arrive. You have to move inside after 10pm as the terrace gets closed and you will be asked very rudely to do so or leave.

All in all - definitely avoid this place as there are much nicer wine venues in Frankfurt. It is clearly aiming to maximize profits and give as little in return...

If you ever get the chance to go to this place ask for Lisa, she will reserve a nice table for you and make you feel welcome and cared for the whole evening. She has great conversation starters and a great personality which goes hand in hand with the great atmosphere this place offers, it has a nice hidden charm to it and the rest of the staff was very friendly and attending to all your needs. Have a go at their daily picks of wines and don't be shy to chat up Lisa, she does not bite, the Flammkuchen and the stove melted cheese are a great combo. Greetings to Lisa, a wine connoisseur that will make you feel like you are Alice in Wonderland. Maybe she is entirely bonkers at times, but I'll tell you a secret, all the best people are.

I love coming to this place and I do it quite often. It's a beautiful setting, with brickwork everywhere and a very lovely backyard (especially beautiful during spring and summer with the flowers and the plants and you can sit outside). The wine choice is really good (love the vinho verde) and they have quite a few things you can eat (cheese plates, hummus and veggies, Flammkuchen, bruschette) although this is not a restaurant. Prices are good too and the service is impeccable. It's a hotspot for after work drinking so I suggest you to show up as soon as they open if you want to find a table.
