I started serving the restaurant industry 54 years ago in San Francisco, starting in 1971.
Taught by European Executive Chefs that consistent superior quality is the mark of an excellent restaurant, Mario & Lino strictly adhere to that high standard.
Exactly as last month’s dining experience, my wife Christine’s Grüne Tortellini was outstanding in flavor and plate appeal.
My 12-cylinder Pizza Ferrari was again loaded with 2 layers each of mozzarella, salsiccia fresca & mushrooms.
And was molto delicioso as on our 1st visit.
Learning from my Sicilian friends in San Francisco to “never name names”, Mario & Lino far surpass Frankfurt’s wannabe pizza parlors.
Recently on business in Stadt Mitte, twice we were cheated by 2 renowned Italian restaurants, that claimed to serve the very best pizza in the city.
The 1st had the nerve to serve a child’s portion pizza covering only 2/3 of the plate, yet charged €20,00.
The 2nd served a frozen Dr. Oetker crust pizza that was tasteless, and yet had the audacity to charge €24,00
In today’s declining economy where the majority of restaurants are cheating, Mario & Lino are the epitome of outstanding quality and VALUE.

In a restaurant world churning like a vicious storm in the Arctic Ocean, some operators are egregiously raising prices, while others are diminishing portion sizes and / or quality.
Mario & Lino is a tremendous exception!
Led by Cono ~ the owner, Italian chef and pizza maestro, the maître d' team of Gabriele and Rocco enhance the dining rooms with their highly skilled and loving presence.
As always, my wife Christine’s Grüne Tortellini was out of this world scrumptious, and my Pizza Ferrari was firing on all 12 cylinders.
#1 Mario & Lino is the only sit-down restaurant in Frankfurt that remains in our repertoire.
Lamentably, all of the others have sunk to the bottom of The Arctic Ocean like The Titanic.

A carnivore since birth thanks to my Costa Rican roots, I shifted gears today by ordering a New York Steak instead of my Pizza Ferrari.
Salerno, Italy born & raised Owner / Executive Chef Cono, grilled for me one of the very best steaks that I have ever enjoyed during my 14 years in Frankfurt.
Succulent, tender, very thick cut and amazingly flavorful ~ effective immediately, Mario & Lino is my go-to restaurant for steaks!
Accompanied by my childhood favorite fresh-cut French Fries, I was in F1 heaven, and so happy that I shifted gears.
My wife Christine was totally dazzled by her Truffle Tortelloni.
Hand prepared by Chef Cono, the delicate tortelloni were enhanced by a very generous portion of truffles.

One of my absolute favorites here is the Seafood Aglio Olio pasta, easily one of the top 3 best Aglio Olio pasta I’ve had worldwide. The balance of flavors and the perfectly cooked seafood make it an exceptional dish every time.
Another standout is their tomato bruschetta, which is simply delicious, with fresh ingredients and a perfect crunch.
If you’re looking for a drink, I highly recommend the Paulaner Hefeweizen Wheat Beer Light. It’s light, refreshing, and has fruity notes that pair wonderfully with the meal. Perfect for those who enjoy something flavorful yet not too heavy.
