Best Shop in Bockenheim ! The cakes are so great, my absolutely favorite is the Cheesecake. The shop smells literally like heaven and everything is colorful and tidy!!! It gives you a warm vibe.

I had some communication issues with almost ALL of the shop assistants, since literally ONLY ONE of the women speaks english fluent and flawlessly, and especially without rolling her eyes. Because in addition to the unwillingness to speak in English with 2 of 3 of the employees - I had problems with rudeness and little patience with them, as well as really little desire to help or even cordiality. It seems that you have to be lucky enough to be served by the only nice and smiling girl, so to not spoil your visit to this magic place. One does not seem willing to speak English and the other girl unfortunately is unable to express herself for technical explanations. My girlfriend confirms that it is the same also in german language for one of them. I don’t take it for granted that everyone speaks english, but at least a bit of flexibility and helpfulness would be kind.

A visit is...

My husband bought a chocolate cake as a gift. We couldn't even cut it. It was so old (for sure more than a week) that the chocolate mousse between the cake layers was hard and was getting detached. We tried to eat a piece and we risked getting intoxicated. Such a disgrace for an expensive shop in the most commercial street of Bockenheim.

I appreciate the answer of the owner below. However the issue is not the money. A nice gesture of my husband turned out to be a disaster and he felt bad. We could have brought it back and asked for reimbursement. But fighting for money would have destroyed our mood further. Cakes are not made only with physics. They are also...

Wir, große Familie, kaufen seit Jahrzehnten zu allen Geburtstagen immer eine Torte bei Eube. Schon immer waren die Damen an der Theke eher unfreundlich und abweisend und die Torten recht teuer. Wir haben das aber in Kauf genommen, da wir die Torten originell und lecker fanden. Inzwischen ist allerdings das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr in Schieflage geraten: die Torten werden immer kleiner, dafür gefühlt ständig teurer (55 Euro für eine kleine Sternzeichentorte ohne irgendwelche Individualisierung, jede kleinste Änderung muss man sehr teuer bezahlen) die Tierkreiszeichen-Tiere sehen inzwischen sehr hässlich und nicht mehr identifizierbar aus, das war mal anders... Die Tortendecke, die bis vor einiger Zeit aus leckerem Marzipan hergestellt wurde, besteht jetzt fast nur noch aus Fondant, was leider unseren Geschmack überhaupt nicht mehr trifft. Außerdem klebt das Zeug unfassbar unangenehm an den Zähnen. Auch sonst schmecken die Torten inzwischen irgendwie nur noch süß und der gebackene Teil/ Boden, ist oft trocken und krümelig(alt?). Wir finden das sehr sehr schade, da wir dadurch nun eine jahrelang geliebte Tradition beenden müssen. Auf meine Nachfrage, warum man nun Fondant statt Marzipan benutzt, wurde mir gesagt, das läge an der neuen EU Verordnung zu den Farbstoffen grün und blau. Mit den neuen Farben könne man das reine Marzipan nicht mehr so gut einfärben und müsse daher auf dieses neue komische Gemisch zurückgreifen. Wenn das so ist, ist das natürlich traurig, aber da würde ich doch nach einer Alternative suchen, unter der der Geschmack nicht so stark leiden muss. Aber wahrscheinlich hat es die Konditorei Eube nicht nötig, der Laden ist ja trotzdem...
