Henninger is a historic beer brand from Frankfurt, and the label is now owned by the Radeberger Group which operates the huge industrial Binding Brauerei in the south of Frankfurt. The Henninger Am Turm Brauhaus features beers from the nearby brewery, and is practically its tasting room, because the massive brewery is not regularly open to the public. The brewery is a huge complex of multistory white steel buildings. On the back side of the central building is a colossal 5x8 farm of 40 huge outdoor multistory jacketed fermenters. It is the single largest outdoor farm I've ever seen. South of that is their large brewhouse which has a huge wall of glass windows facing the street. Inside you can see 5 huge copper brewing vessels, the largest I've ever seen in copper. Further south is large administrative building with gold letters for the Radeberger Group, and this brewery has consolidated several historic Frankfurt brands. They produce their namesake Binding beers, as well as the local Henninger brand, Braufactum craft beers, and Schofferhofer, whose hefeweizen I've enjoyed in the United States. These brands and the brewery date back to 1870, making this Frankfurt's most iconic brewery, so I recommend a visit to Henninger am Turm Brauhaus. There you can try the Henninger and Schofferhofer beers on tap. It occupies the ground level of a 4-story concrete building. Outside is a streetside patio area with several tables and huge umbrellas. Just inside is their 3-sided 24-chair wooden bar. In the center is an island with a copper tap tower with 7 beers on tap. Most are from the next door brewery but a couple are guest crafts. These are available by full or half pour, and the bar also has several growlers stocked overhead. They also have a few craft varieties in bottles. To the right of the bar is a large dining room with plenty of tables. They also have a sports bar section with a couple huge screens for football soccer matches. To the left of the bar is an overflow dining area, and the kitchen is straight ahead behind the bar. Their food menu consists of appetizers, sausages, salads, burgers, and classic German cuisine such as schnitzel. The place is illuminated with circular chandeliers with warm incandescent bulbs. There is no background music so the place has a subdued ambience. The staff is welcoming and proficient. I...
Read moreUnexpectedly terrible experience.. We ordered Grobe bratwurst and Kalbsleber Berliner art, herbal tea and still water. The first impression was not pleasant when the waiter brought us sparkling water instead of still, but we wouldn’t have noticed that mistake as a grave if she would bring a closed bottle of still water, that would have been opened in front of us. But no, she brought an open bottle..
The kalbsleber made a big problem.. instead of redoing a dish or offering to cross it out of the bill, the waitress, who declined to name her, started to rudely convince us that it should be like this and that is what they always offer for customers… It’s such a pity if the told the truth.. as it was terribly chewy, raw inside, with blood vessels (full of blood) and connective tissue left on it.. No words. Never in my life I experienced such irresponsibility and customers non-oriented service as it was here🤷🏻♀️ it seems as nobody just cares about restaurant image.. Ps The side salad is served in totally unhandy bowls, only for people who never mic the salad or eat in the order it is piled by a cook(first you have to eat carrots, then onion, then etc, and greens the last … no chance to mix in such a bowl and to choose what you...
Read moreThe restaurant is a large place, usually not full and with a lot of tables. Food and beer was ok, but the service was terrible. We were five and were shown to a table of 4, even though other tables were free. We asked for a fifth chair for our 17 months old daughter, but had to get one on our own, because the waiter forgot about it. The waiter also forgot the bread we asked for our hungry daughter so we had to ask two more times. After finally having eaten, our daughter wanted to walk around and see the restaurant, I would expect something very normal for a child this age. In any other place we have been the waiters would smile at her, offer her a tool to play or even play with her if they have time. In this restaurant however one waiter was first looking very badly at her and later almost screaming at me that I should keep my daughter seated. Another waiter then explained me in a nicer way that they do not want to walk her over which I understand but it is the first time I have seen somebody not allowing a small kid to walk around. I have not thought until today such children-hating people...
