I am not one to usually write reviews let alone a negative one at that but I can’t help but too for this situation. I come and stay at the Lindner hotel in Frankfurt a lot because I board there for work and meetings. So I stay about half the year here. I have never had a worst experience at a hotel ever. The only positive thing I can say about this place is the location is perfect 👍🏻. My first complaint is the temperature in the rooms. There is a thermostat in every room to which none work at all. Every night I wake up drowning in my sweat either hot or freezing cold from leaving the windows open. I have stayed a total of 3 whole months here and have yet to get one restful nights sleep. I don’t know if it’s there hard, unbreathable mattresses or blankets or just what the temperature is set at but it drives me insane not being able to get comfortable at the end of a long day. My second complaint has to do with the service. Because I am a younger individual I have notice that I get treated differently due to my age. I have been rejected from the bar because I didn’t order a drink ( even though I was with a group of 5 people and they all were ordering drinks ), I have also been denied eating at the hotel restaurant 40 minutes before closing. Not to mention I have a decent status with Hyatt (explorist) and yet still treat me with no respect. ( I want to mention some of the staff are amazing) most are not. On top of the rude service and terribly uncomfortable living environment the room cleaners I have had multiple instances and situations were they have came into my room without knocking or making sure no one is inside. Twice they have walked in on me either in the shower and sleeping in bed and TWICE IN ONE DAY they came in while my GF was in bed naked. This is completely uncalled for and so uncomfortable. It should be common decency and respect to knock or holler in the room to make sure it’s a good time to enter. If you dare come stay at the lindner good luck and can tell you the only good thing about this place is the location. So many issues I’m sure I’m missing some. You are better picking...
Read moreI'll leave it for you to decide if you want to support an establishment like this – with no compassion nor reasoning due to the effects of Covid-restricted travel and not being able to stay.
Lindner was one of our stays during a 2-week planned vacation to Europe, scheduled for June 2020. Due to Covid-19 (we are all familiar with this pandemic right?), we had to cancel our trip. As did so many other families all over the world... Broke my heart to cancel it, it was the last thing I expected or wanted to do. Spending 6-months planning and mapping the trip out, just to spend a couple of weeks cancelling everything.
This was a non-refundable booking, albeit I respect and understand non-refundable bookings, and accept the associated risk/penalty; under normal circumstances. But during a global pandemic, nothing is normal. Some rules and policies just cannot apply, out of fairness to the inevitable situation… When country's are shutting down borders from allowing foreign nationals to enter their country, thereby making it impossible to enter (with or without quarantine spanning longer than your planned vacation) even if we braved the trip in the first place. Lindner chose to stick to their policy guns, cowardly hiding behind that. They refused to offer a refund, or even a credit. I spent over a month on emails both with the property directly, and with Expedia trying to accomplish this, yet still, no moving. (Booked this through Expedia, they did us no favors or help either. By the way, other prepaid bookings I made through Booking.com were all refunded in full, 100%.).
Lindner opted to keep my prepayment for a stay I could not realize. No compassion nor any reasoning with the circumstances outside of anyone's control. That to me is just criminal, stealing from a family robbed of their long-planned holiday vacation due to Covid-19. Its just wrong, no matter how you look at it. I personally would never every plan on staying at this facility, or any others, where the management takes that sort of stand in this current...
Read moreFrequent traveller to this hotel: I stay at one of the nice floors of the hotel with a large room, skyline views and kitchenette. Its a room for two people but does not offer a door to the toilet which is a bit odd but I am not disappointed at all.
The service at the reception however, was the most disappointing one in a very long time. Team members are promising one thing and as soon as another shift takes over, the actions are different again. I was always welcomed by Noel at the reception and this service made me return to the hotel always. He is kind and takes the time to understand his customers. The manager (Mrs. Fuhlendorf) has to be the most unprofessional person I have ever come across in my travels. She was asking me questions and when I responded, instantly talking to other customers ??? and when I was talking to another staff member, also whispering things in their ears? Are we children now? I had to wait for the night shift staff to get better treatment over a problem I faced. They apologised and waived off some credits (this was a business trip so the money didn't really matter so much). In the morning, I was given the whole bill again because as talking and explaining to the staff member the situation of the rudeness, the woman was whispering in the staff members ears. She also disregarded my explaination.
In all manners, even if I was 100% wrong, I was not being rude to the staff, I was only trying to understand the problem and how we could handle it the best. Whereas this woman (the manager) was the worst thing about this hotel. Not listening, whispering rudely to other members, speaking in German loudly knowing I didn't understand it, then making me feel embarrassed for just asking questions.
Never again unless the staff is aligned on conversations and updated with their clients - otherwise please provide some training on behavioural manners with such a famous hotel. Horrible.
Will update my team at TikTok to have better booking...
