The home cooking never fails us. This time we’ve two lunch specials: Tomato soup Schnitzer with mushroom & fries (not exactly thin) Mussels with spaghetti Tomato mozzarella Appel wine House red Montepulciano

Starting from the soup, all are flavorful without being salty. The French fries look clean and dry but they’re flavorful and yummy. The spaghetti is al dente and delicious. Always hearty and satisfying

Another faves of mine in Bockenheim neighborhood in Frankfurt. It’s a block away from our home. During any meal there, there are always hellos and chats from the passing by neighbors. It’s family owned and the owner serves. They remained open during the long subway station construction, not that they wanted to but had to: the dilemma of small business. I’m so glad and grateful that it’s still open.

Funny that I’ve never eaten inside, which is pretty elegant. Before the subway Leipziger Str./Winegarten exit was built, it was the street. Now we sit by the subway exit....

Unverschämt, herablassend und absolut respektlos – ein Ort, den man meiden sollte

Ich habe selten ein derart unfreundliches und unangemessenes Verhalten erlebt wie vor dem Restaurant Da Nico. Während ich wenige Minuten auf meine Frau wartete, setzte ich mich – völlig ruhig und ohne jemanden zu stören – auf einen der zahlreichen leeren Stühle vor dem Lokal. Es war kein einziger Gast zu sehen, alle Tische standen unbesetzt.

Nach nicht einmal zwei Minuten kam der Besitzer wütend herausgestürmt, schrie mich in einem Ton an, der jegliche Form von Anstand und Respekt vermissen ließ, und verlangte, dass ich den Stuhl sofort verlasse. Keine Frage, kein Gespräch – nur Lautstärke, Aggression und ein herablassendes Auftreten.

Ich war gesundheitlich nicht in der Lage zu stehen und musste mich danach auf einen schmutzigen Mauervorsprung setzen – direkt daneben. Dass man als Mensch so behandelt wird, nur weil man kurz verschnaufen will, ist beschämend.

Dieses Verhalten sagt viel über die Haltung des Betreibers gegenüber Menschen aus: Wer nicht sofort zahlt, wird wie ein Störfaktor behandelt. Solch ein respektloser Umgang ist für mich ein absolutes No-Go.

Ich kann nur jedem raten: Meidet diesen Ort. Freundlichkeit und Gastkultur sehen definitiv anders aus.

Rude, condescending and completely disrespectful – a place to avoid

I have rarely experienced such unprovoked hostility as I did in front of Da Nico. While I was quietly waiting for my wife, I sat down for a couple of minutes on one of the many completely empty chairs outside the restaurant. Not a single customer in sight – all tables unoccupied.

Within moments, the owner stormed out in a rage, yelling at me in a tone that showed zero decency or respect, demanding that I leave the chair immediately. No polite request, no conversation – just aggression, volume, and arrogance.

Due to health reasons, I wasn’t able to stand for long and was forced to sit on a dirty ledge next to the restaurant after being thrown off the chair.

The way I was treated – simply for taking a short rest without disturbing anyone – speaks volumes about the owner’s attitude toward people: if you’re not paying, you’re a nuisance. That kind of disrespect is unacceptable, no matter the setting.

Leider musste ich eine der schlimmsten Erfahrungen meines Lebens in diesem Restaurant machen.

Ich wollte ganz normal nach einem freien Tisch fragen – freundlich und ruhig. Stattdessen wurde ich sofort laut angeschrien, nur weil mein Deutsch nicht perfekt ist.

Der Mann war extrem unhöflich, beleidigend und hat sogar vor den anderen Gästen abfällige Kommentare über mich gemacht, während ich noch da war. Ich habe mehrfach versucht, ruhig zu erklären, dass ich nur einen freien Platz suche, um zu bestellen – aber er hat mich ignoriert und weiterhin lautstark gedemütigt.

Seine Worte und sein Verhalten hatten ganz klar rassistische Züge. Ich wurde öffentlich bloßgestellt und vor anderen Menschen rausgeschmissen – ohne jeglichen Grund.

Es geht hier nicht nur um schlechten Service, sondern um Respektlosigkeit, Diskriminierung und ein Verhalten, das in einer offenen Gesellschaft keinen Platz haben sollte.

Ich fordere eine öffentliche Entschuldigung. Niemand sollte so behandelt werden – ganz egal, woher er kommt oder wie gut er die Sprache spricht.
