Ratscafe Görlitz — Restaurant in Görlitz

It's a nice cafe with good cakes and beautiful interior in the city center. BUT! Customer focus is not about this place. We have ordered a coffee pot assuming that it's enough for 2 people - as it normality is anywhere in Germany or outside. However the coffee pot was served with only one cup. When we asked for the second cup they answered that they don't do so. When we asked to explain the reasons, the answer was that a coffee pot is for one person and if somebody would like to drink the coffee together they have to order 2 cups of coffee instead because it is more expensive. When we mentioned that then they have to clearly state this in their menu, they answered that they don't have to do anything and it's a normal situation everywhere: 1 coffee pot for 1 person. Well that's not true, but regardless, it's our choice as customers whether we would like to share the coffee pot or not. I can't imaging a situation when I order a portion of potato in the restaurant and the stuff resists to give a second set of cutlery. This is just a nonsense! And if these additional 60-70 cents (the difference between a coffee pot and 2 cups of coffee) are more important than customer loyalty and satisfaction then it is a really bad service. And last but not least: although the waiter was more or less polite during our conversation but the whitehair lady at the bar desk was quite aggressive. Once again:...

The Ratscafe enjoys a fantastic location in Görlitz's Untermarkt. The café building has been beautifully restored and expectations are high. But unfortunately, the reality does not meet expectations at all. After waiting on the terrace for almost 15 minutes, I went inside to ask for the menu (two waiters were manning the terrace the whole time, but they didn't look at us). The waitress I encountered did not understand English, did not smile, was not polite at all. She just shrugged her shoulders. In the end, we were presented with one soggy and stained menu. At that point, the anger had grown and we left without ordering.We were left wondering how it is possible that at this time of the year, when tourists are expected, the waiters do not even have a decent command of English to serve customers properly. The service is very poor! We ordered a coffee pot (which is usually meant for two person) and it came with one cup, when we asked (very politely) for a second cup, the blond lady at the bar became very aggressive, she almost yelled at us. Firstly, it's nonsense that we can't take a second cup for a coffee pot. We travel a lot and this is the first time we've had this problem! The waiter told us that it's everywhere... well, maybe you need to visit other cities in Germany and abroad to see how it works outside of your cafe. And secondly, how can you be aggressive with your customers just because they asked you for a second cup??? It's just incredible! If you didn't sleep well or had a bad day, stay at home and don't disturb other people! Definitely not a place I would like to return to. Very bad experience! Not...
