L'Osteria Göttingen — Restaurant in Göttingen

The only thing nice I can say about this place is the atmosphere. It was a cute little cafe in the heart of Göttingen. I guess that’s what my one star can go to. The service was horrible and the food was subpar. We ordered Margerita pizzas, no basil. We told the waiter and asked for basil, he brought 4 lousy pieces of basil (for two huge MARGHERITA pizzas that normally is supposed to come with tons of basil!!!.)

The food was bland other then that. Extremely bland. Pizza had literally no flavor, I had pizza before at another losteria location and the food was a huge difference. I had to add tons of salt and chili oil to taste anything. There was no service the entire lunch. I had to walk in to ask waiter for anything. Bland food and lack of service is completely ridiculous.

The bill came, complete rip off. $3 each pizza for vegan cheese. One pizza I ordered with mushrooms and olives and other pizza my boyfriend ordered had spinach. Was charged two times for spinach and olives, once for mushrooms. When I asked about why I was charged twice he said “for the entire pizza it is charged two portions for both halves.” That is absolutely ridiculous ! We didn’t agree for TWO ORDERS of toppings. ONE order each per pizza. I won’t fight for .75 cents but it’s bad business practice and a ridiculous scam. The icing on the cake was when the server asked me for everything was. I told him food was completely bland, he had no clue then said he didn’t speak German or English. I was in shock. What is this place. It is clear L’Osteria does not care about customer service. For our birthday party, we decided to try out their menu, which included a selection of vegetarian pizzas, pasta, and some tempting wine options. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine; it certainly added to the enjoyment of the evening.

However, when it came to the pizzas, we were left somewhat disappointed. I opted for a pizza featuring portions of BBQ sauce chicken and a Caesar chicken. Unfortunately, it seemed like the pizza had been cooked and merely topped with these ingredients. The flavors didn't meld together as I had hoped, and I couldn't help but feel like the pizza lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting.

Despite the letdown in the food department, the ambiance of the restaurant was quite pleasant. The atmosphere provided a cozy and inviting setting for our celebration. I must also commend the staff, who were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. Their excellent service did make our overall experience more enjoyable.

In summary, while the wine and the atmosphere were highlights of our birthday celebration at this establishment, the pizza didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of flavor and preparation. Nonetheless, the welcoming staff and nice ambiance made it a memorable and enjoyable...

War heute das erste mal dort essen. Es war nachmittags und das Restaurant war nur mäßig besucht. Wir wurden am Eingang begrüßt und durften uns aussuchen wo wir sitzen möchten. Am Platz angekommen mussten wir alleine 20 Minuten warten bis die Bedienung überhaupt mal nach den Getränken fragte und das obwohl das Restaurant wie schon erwähnt nur mäßig besucht war. In der Karte viel mir schon auf das hier alles etwas anders ist. Die Auswahl ist recht gering und passt auf eine Din A4 Seite. Verschiedene Größen gibt es auch nicht zur Auswahl, stattdessen werden alle Pizzen nur in "Groß" serviert, etwa 40cm. Eine halbe lässt sich auch nicht bestellen. Wir waren zum Glück zu zweit und konnten uns eine teilen. Eine wäre für den normalen Hunger definitiv zuviel. Die Getränke waren nach 10 Minuten da. Ich hatte mir einen Caffee Latte bestellt und war von der Größe sehr enttäuscht. Es war ein 0.2L Glas aber zur Hälfte voller Milchschaum und ein Strohhalm gibt es auch nicht dazu. Wir bestellten unsere Pizza. Diese kam etwa 30 Minuten später, eine Hälfte je Teller. Die Teller waren nur halb so groß wie die Pizzahälfte selbst dementsprechend hing ein Großteil lose auf dem Tisch. Da ich meinen Caffee schon leer hatte bestellte ich noch eine Cola die ich aber selbst nach wiederholtem Nachfragen nie bekommen habe. Eigentlich schade denn wie erwähnt war das Restaurant nicht ansatzweise voll.

Zum Essen: Die Pizza an sich schmeckt gut, vor allem der Rand ist sehr weich und dennoch knusprig. Definitiv ein lohnenswertes essen wenn man auf jeglichen Service verzichten mag.

Wir hatten aufgegessen und nach 20 Minuten warten kam immer noch kein Kellner für die Zahlung obwohl Sie nur am Tresen herum standen weshalb wir dann zum Tresen gingen und dort direkt zahlten.

Fazit: Das Essen ist ok auch wenn es keine Größenauswahl gibt. Der Service gehört aber mit zu den schlechtesten überhaupt und aufgrund der schlechten Bedienung ist es kaum möglich unter 2 Stunden wieder aus dem Laden raus zu sein. Nett unterhalten ist aufgrund des Geräuschpegels auch nicht wirklich möglich und meine bestellte Cola gab es auch eine Stunde später noch nicht. Würde grundsätzlich davon abraten dort essen zu gehen.
