It's no exaggeration to say that this is our favourite restaurant, full stop. We've yet to find, anywhere, a more authentic Vietnamese restaurant outside of Vietnam, and it's simply perfect.
Fresh, warm, rich, smooth and strong, this is where we go when we're tired or want to celebrate. We're probably addicted.
Here's some key tips: While everything on the menu is good, please treat yourself and order some of the "proper" Vietnamese dishes - phở, bún, nem, most things you're not sure how to pronounce - instead of defaulting to "safe-looking curry-like dishes" (which are also good, but less distinctively Vietnamese). Especially phở - the meat soup that you might call Vietnam's national dish - is perfect for newcomers to Vietnamese cuisine, having no "scary" ingredients. It's meat broth, meat (/tofu as vegan option), noodles, coriander, cinnamon, star anise and no strange surprises, and it absolutely rocks. A must-eat. If you are willing to try out Vietnamese fish sauce, I heartily recommend the bún chả - grilled pork in fish sauce, with rice noodles - because it's heaven in a bowl. Cơm tấm - grilled pork with rice - is the pictured dish, and is apparently a temporary dish that may make it to the main menu later (fingers crossed - it's mouthwateringly delicious!).
Final tip, applicable to every Vietnamese restaurant world-wide: Vietnamese food, unlike much of eastern cuisine, usually does not come with chilli by default. You can and should ask the waiters to bring you fresh chilli (and a slice of lime to squeeze into your bowl; heartily recommend), or add some pickled chilli if it's on your table. This makes it safe for those who dread spicy food, but the true potential of the food definitely shows once it starts having a bit of hot hit to it.
Drinks are also all great, coffee is quite authentic.

Read moreThere is no 0 star option, what a pity! Suggest the owner to put more training on their employees' service, attitude, and how to behave when receiving comments. Threatening the tourists will never solve the problem. We got the waiter followed for more than 1km and force us to delete the comment. We just described how we were treated by the waiter.
From the owner reply below, not only my review. Others as well. You can see it is always customers' fault. They are always right and excused. To be honest, I did not want to write that much. But the owner keeps talking and talking and force me to admit it is our fault and remove my review. It makes me sick. Never go there again. Suggest everyone avoid this restaurant. There is another very good one just beside it, called Sen Viet Cuisine Bistro. Kind owner, warm hearted waiter/waitress, much much better service and good food too. You will never regret...
Read moreWe are a group of 10 people. The waiter said the waiting time will be 30-45 minutes. We think it is ok. A popular restaurant can have longer waiting time. The restaurant also has a bar, so we can have some drinks while we waiting. But when we started to check menu, the waiter came again and said the waiting time is too long, which will disappoint us, and he knows Chinese people usually want quick service, so he would like us to leave. It is very strange that the customers have no problem to wait but the restaurant does not welcome the customers. I guess it was because he thought there would be risk for them to get less stars from us. If a restaurant only offers food and drink to the ones who can give more stars, I think they worth 1...
