Café Noir — Restaurant in Halle (Saale)

We were here for the Champions League final. After we were seated, a waiter came over and told us that we had to move because the table in front of the TV was 'for more than two people', despite the fact that we had told him we were waiting for four other friends. Immediately afterwards we were placed at a table further along, which was narrow and uncomfortable. We accommodated ourselves because we could not do it any other way. Shortly afterwards they seated two (German) guys in the exact seats behind us that were 'for more people'. About half an hour before the game started, our friends arrived, a total of six people, who left because we were rightly in a very uncomfortable place. In doing so, the waiter (Italian, but who may have forgotten his origins) turned away six potential customers because he did not believe me when I told him that more people were coming.

That same evening I left my iPad on an armchair, and unfortunately I did not realise this until two days later. I called the club for information, and they told me they had found nothing. The location of my iPad did not lie and I could see it was in the pub, so I sent two friends to get it. Initially the waitress said there was no iPad, but after realising we had the location she went and came back with my iPad.

Now I don't know whether this behaviour is due to the fact that we are Italian or something else, but the behaviour of these waiters and the people inside the restaurant - including the Italian waiter - was vomitous. I will never come back and you will never see a penny...

Ich bin oft im Café Noir gewesen, und es war eines meiner Lieblingscafés in Halle. Immer wenn ich mit meinen deutschen Freunden im Café Noir war, war alles großartig. Alle Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Aber als ich mit meinen ausländischen Freunden dort war, waren neun von zehn Fällen die Kellner und insbesondere die Barkeeperin (die Frau, die an der Bar arbeitet) mega unfreundlich, passiv aggressiv und leicht rassistisch. Normalerweise haben wir, wenn wir im Café Noir waren, fast immer Trinkgeld gegeben und waren so höflich wie möglich mit allen Mitarbeiten, um einen positiven Eindruck zu hinterlassen. Leider war das passiv-aggressive und leicht rassistische Verhalten gestern so schlimm, dass wir nicht länger im Café Noir bleiben wollten und stattdessen zum Connoisseur gegangen sind. Ich hoffe, dass sich die Situation im Café Noir bald ändert, und ich viele gute Erinnerungen dort haben kann.

I have been to Cafe Noir multiple times, as it was one of my favorite Bars in Halle. As an international student here, I have visited this place both with my german friends and international ones. And every time I was there with my german friends everyone working there was very friendly, and helpful. However 9 out of 10 cases I was in Cafe Noir with my international friends, it was impossible not to feel the passive aggressive behavior and even slight racism. Every time we were there, we were always smiling when talking with the workers, gave almost always tips, and tried to be as respectful and friendly as possible, in order to leave a positive impression, as we loved the atmosphere there and wanted to come back. However yesterday, that passive aggressive attitude (especially the bartender lady) was so bad that we had total mood-kill moment, and didn’t want to stay there any longer, so we just went to the neighboring cafe connoisseur.

On another note, I have never checked cafe noir’s google review page until now, and I realized that me and my friends aren’t the only one facing this issue there. However, instead of taking counter measures, the owner seems to be in denial of this situation. I wholeheartedly wish that this situation will change for the better soon, and I will be able to spend quality time with my friends in...

We went at night for some drinks so I’m not rating having a coffee. They have a long list of cocktails, shots and of course wine and beers. The place was full and the service/staff were ok. Sometimes we needed to wait a long time but I want to think that the reason was a lot of people inside the place and in the outside area. The place is easy to find, around you will find more restaurants, bars, coffee shops and stores. The prices are fair to what you get and if you want to go with a large group of people it shouldn’t be a problem but I recommend you to make a reservation in advance, just to make sure that all of you are able to...
