The menu has various creative burger options, and I decided to sample three to fully explore the range—the Italian, the Farmer, and the Champion. At first glance, each burger impressed with its unique blend of toppings: the Italian had a flavorful sauce that hinted at Mediterranean inspiration, the Farmer was packed with fresh vegetables, and the Champion stood out with its fried mushrooms and creamy white sauce. Yet, as I bit into the first burger, I realized that the patty—a critical component—was underwhelming. Despite their varied toppings, all three burgers shared the same dry, medium-quality beef patty. The texture was brittle, lacking the tenderness and juiciness that a touch more fat could have provided. This absence of richness turned what should have been the star of the meal into something forgettable.
Dulf's Burger in Hamburg has a reputation for being one of the city's top destinations for high-quality hamburgers. With no reservations accepted, the wait—often between 20 and 40 minutes—is part of the experience. As I stood in line, I couldn’t help but anticipate the meal ahead, knowing that this was not going to be a budget-friendly outing. At around €30 per meal, Dulf’s falls into a premium category, though it is far from the extravagance of a Michelin-starred restaurant.
The cozy ambiance immediately set a welcoming tone. The space, perfect for a casual date or an intimate dinner, had a charm that felt authentic and unpretentious. However, the simplicity of the seating was impossible to ignore. The wooden chairs, while functional, lacked comfort, reminding me that this was not a venue focused on lavish decor but rather on its culinary offerings.
Unfortunately, my order arrived incorrectly, which, coupled with the lack of attentiveness from the staff, detracted from the overall experience. For a place that prides itself on quality, this oversight was surprising and frustrating.
Despite these setbacks, there were redeeming qualities. The setting, though simple, had a charm that made the meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. The ability to pay by card was a welcome convenience, and the creativity in the toppings showed potential for something truly special. Yet, as I reflected on the experience, it was clear that the patty’s lack of depth and the inattentive service overshadowed these positives.
Dulf’s Burger offers an atmosphere and menu that suggest greatness, but the execution left me wishing for more. With small adjustments—particularly to the patty’s composition—it could easily live up to its reputation. For now, it remains a place with undeniable appeal but room for growth, leaving its patrons caught between charm and unmet...
Read moreWe arrived there around 18:00 pm on 11.08.2023 and sat inside the restaurant.
The food was terrific, but we had an unpleasant experience with the service. Please read this carefully and handle this by changing your serving system, or even your server.
Although we came earlier, the other two groups were served first.
After our drinks were served first, it took more than 20 minutes to get our main meal. In the meantime, the other groups who came later than us had almost finished their meals.
After finishing our meal, we wanted to pay. Your server(A lady with long black hair) said she would bring her colleague for that. We waited 10 minutes but no one came to us. We had concerns that we were forgotten, so I made obvious eye contact with her again. She replied with a very controversial body gesture (two arms up in the air) that she is annoyed so we were surprised. However, even after that, we had to wait 10 minutes more. 20 minutes in total, which equally means you wasted our 20 minutes in a very unnecessary way. And yet, we have not received any apology which you owe us.
Please note that we could make a fuzz immediately to get more attention from your other customers. We just didn't, as they all deserve a good mood, just like we deserve it.
Again, the food was great. This must be absolutely the main reason why your business is thriving.
However, we would like to strongly suggest you consider the below options so that your success continues in the future.
A) Check internal protocol within your employees about how to treat customers. from how to serve customers fairly, to express apology when it is definitely required. B) Simply hire better employees with better manners.
Thanks...
Read moreThis was our first time going at the new location. It was a bit confusing to order because of a "Menu." It wasn't clear to us when the waitress asked if we wanted it, and it still wasn't clear after our food came... The only difference between my order and my husband's was that he got sauce for the fries and I didn't. My order was incorrect, and the waitress got away and never returned before I had the opportunity to tell her. I ordered corn on the cob with my burger, but got sweet potato fries instead. My burger was well-done, and my husband's was medium (they switched the patties as I ordered medium and my husband well-done.).
I was going to cut them a break since they've expanded and have some kinks to work out. I even read the reviews before hand, and decided to chance it anyway. That being said, when we went to pay with card, we were told that they are CASH ONLY. There were no signs anywhere, and no one told us ahead of time. I walked to the nearest ATM while my husband waited for me to return. It was extremely aggravating, and on top of that, the bank for the ATM charge me a 6 Euro fee.
We witnessed one couple leave the restaurant completely after being served their food. Another couple ended up with an extra order of fries because their order was also wrong...
