My recent visit to Kniflets left much to be desired, particularly regarding the cleanliness of the outside terrace and the quality of service provided. Upon arrival, I couldn't help but notice the accumulation of dust on plates and water bottles, which were evidently filled from a questionable source as they were not clean. Furthermore, the unsettling observation of waiters handling the tip of the bottle raised serious hygiene concerns.

Regrettably, the disappointing experience extended to the service we received. The attitude of our waiter was nothing short of rude; a simple request for truffle butter was met with unnecessary hostility. Despite being paying patrons, we were rebuffed with the explanation that there was no need for additional truffle butter, as it was already on the table.

Overall, my experience at Kniflets was marred by subpar hygiene standards and unwelcoming service. It's disheartening to witness such lapses in cleanliness and professionalism in an establishment that presumably prides itself on offering a quality dining experience. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend Kniflets to others seeking a pleasant...

Wonderful food with thoughtful (but not quite 100% effective) wine pairings. Friendly, efficient staff who definitely added to the experience.

But here’s the ‘but‘
in fact a couple of them. On reflection, I felt we were a little bit 'upsold', resulting in a higher than planned bill. Secondly, the overall price was just too high. Having eaten at many restaurants of the same and greater calibre, there was no obvious justification for this meal costing the same as a weeks' holiday. Maybe this is just a Hamburg thing though, and for sure most of the cost was wine and not food!

Portion sizes could’ve been a bit bigger, but the food was mostly delicious. I do feel chocolate mousse is a bit of a cop out when you’re paying for a culinary experience though, although they are changing that course soon apparently.

In conclusion, if money is no object, or it's a really special treat, Kinfelts is indeed a great night out and we really enjoyed it. Maybe they could simply ask if you would like anything else, rather than offering suggestions which are awkward to refuse and become harder to do so when you’ve had a...

We had a poor experience here recently. Business meal for a party of four. While the food was adequate overall, it took far too long to arrive. Our mains arrived nearly 2 hours after we ordered them even though the restaurant was half empty. Starters (pumpkin soup) were very good, the much delayed expensive main (steak) was dry and lacking in flavour.

The main problem was the service. We were interrupted at least 20 times mid-conversation by our waitress, each time taking centre stage and tying us into a conversation. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and then nothing happened for 15 minutes until they came back and asked if we had made up our mind on drinks..

When we asked after 1h 45mins whether our mains were still on track we received a rude and puzzling response that “all is being made fresh here and the meat needs to rest”. Bizarre.

Finally, when two of our payment cards would not work, we suggested that perhaps the card machine was the issue which was flatly denied. After some back and forth a new card machine was found and of course payment then went through.

Overall a painful,...

Well it wasn’t a bad dinner. The staff was great and I liked the atmosphere. The food, on the other hand, wasn’t quite there. I had the 5-course menu, and expected a French cuisine. The duck with the red cabbage wasn’t bad, but that’s rather German, isn’t it? Then the consommĂ© had some Asian twist. The bread wasn’t amazing and the truffle butter wasn’t the right temperature. It was straight from the fridge when served. The scallop was oversalted. And I liked the ice cream the least of all. It was too many tastes: marzipan, chocolate, berries, almonds
It ended up being a cacophony of competing tastes. Again, it wasn’t a bad dinner, it’s just these details which kinda spoil the experience. If the price tag was 30% cheaper, it’d be a 4 star for me, but for this price the food should be better IMO. Thanks to the friendly staff though :) the wines were also amazing.

Maybe I expected too much from this restaurant as the reviews were good. I was in Hamburg for 3 days sightseeing and wanted to eat good food in a nice restaurant. It looked very beautiful, but the seasoning destroyed the goodness of the ingredients. I'm not used to eating salty food, so it was too salty. But for locals, it may be normal. Couldn't continue so left the food and asked for the bill. They offered a coffee, but I didn’t want to continue for my stomach. Also some waitresses were not professional. Example: Spitting up to the sink what she drank in front of a guest. I am not sure it was alcohol or other
but it should not be in a disgusting way
. I lost appetite. For visiting this restaurant, to be referred how they replied. Also the low rated reviews to be considered.

Last but not least: +3 EUR, wenn man ein Gericht teilen will? Ernsthaft? Schade eigentlich, hatte bisher viel gutes gehört.
