Kokoro Asia & Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Hamburg

TLDR: The food is great; sushi is well prepared and beautifully presented, good portioned main dishes and very, very crispy duck. The atmosphere is strange and the music is unfitting and loud (61-82 dB - 73dB avg) in an empty restaurant).

Takeout advised unless you're fine with distracting ambiance.

We visited this restaurant for a small dinner on a Saturday evening and stayed roughly an hour. During the entire time we were the only people sitting in the restaurant.

Atmosphere: As we entered the restaurant we immediately noticed the rather loud music and the empty space, adorned with conflicting aesthetics (middle Eastern wooden furniture, modern rounded aluminium lights and a square patterned ceiling that'd old-school Chinese biting itself with a light green wall). While picking out something from the menu both my partner and I found it difficult to concentrate on the menu due to the rather loud (and to us rather distracting choice of -) music. One song we found particularly unfitting and distracting was repeated 3 times.

Noise: Normally not its own point but in this restaurant it was the prevailing factor in making it a weird experience. The music was unfitting to the product and, unfortunately, very loud and distracting. The measured amplitude reached as high as 82dB with an average of 73dB. In the rare moment where the music stopped the noise level reduced to mere 51dB. Make of it what you will, but we both experienced it as rather strange and unfitting...

Service: The service was good, we got a lot of attention early on but felt a bit neglected towards the end; we wanted to order an extra dish once the other dishes were being picked up. Since we were literally the only guests and our dishes were empty on the table, we assumed the waitress would come around unprompted to check up on us, but sadly that did not happen. We ran low on time and decided to skip the extra dish we'd otherwise have ordered.

Food: Now, prior to receiving our food we both felt very strange about the atmosphere and had we not sat down already we'd have walked out. But when the food arrived this mood changed - we expected the worst but got something very appetising. The sushi was beautifully presented and flavourful (avocado not ripe enough though!) and well-sized. The main dish we chose was a Tom Kha soup with crispy duck - and yes, that duck was definitely crispy (in a good way).

WARNING WARNING WARNING The owners of this Resturaunt are scam artists. I ordered a 41€ order off of liferando. I immediately received a call from the female owner with a bunch of babies crying/screaming in the background (of course there’s always tons of babies but not alot of intelligence), saying that they couldn’t deliver the food because I was “too far”. Then the man got on the phone and promised to cancel the order.

Well of course, they never cancelled my order (they initially accepted my order), and are now claiming I received the order! Who knows what else they’re doing? Maybe poisoning the food and lying to customers? AVOID THIS...

Alle Angaben und Vorkommnisse Entsprechen der Wahrheit. Wir hatten am Montag den 20.03.22 bei oben genannten Lieferservice Essen im Werte von 71€ bestellt. Wir waren 4 Personen, es wurde einmal quer durch das Sortiment bestellt. Es wurde Sushi, Wan Tan Suppe, gebackene Wan Tan und Hauptgerichte OHNE Fisch bestellt. Die Entfernung zum Geschäft beträgt 2100 Meter, als Anmerkung. Das Essen war bestenfalls etwas warm, die gebackenen Wan Tan waren kühl. Die anderen Gerichte hatten Raumtemperatur. Die Sushigerichte waren viel zu hart. Die Speisen ohne Fisch schmeckten stark nach Fisch. Das Hauptgericht mit Ente, da war die Ente schon länger tot........ Bei der Wan Tan Suppe war die Einlage tief Grau bis Braun, anstatt weiß. Bei den Sushispeisen wurden ca 50% (aus Hunger) verspeist. Der Rest wurde zu 75% vernichtet. Wir Reklamierten am Dienstag (um nochmal über alles zu schlafen) Telefonisch, null Einsicht und ein sehr unprofessionelles Verhalten. Uns wurde noch mit einem Anwalte gedroht. 2 Stunden später erschienen 2 Personen aus diesem Betrieb OHNE Anmeldung bei uns Zuhuause. DATENSCHUTZ??? Da wurde ich das erstemal "etwas" massiv, da ich nach 14 Stunden Arbeit keine Lust auf Plauderreien hatte. Ich zeigte den Herrschaften die Fotos, und sagte das wir zu jeden Kompromis bereit sind und löschte meine 1.negative Bewertung hier. Uns wurde ein Essen versprochen, am kommenden Wochenende.... Was darf ich sagen, wir bestellten (Wert30€) und nichts kam. Auch auf einen Anruf 90 Minuten später, wieder ein Lüge als Antwort..... Er wäre in 15 Minuten da. KEINE ENTSCHÄDIGUNG, FALSCHAUSSAGEN, KEINE KULANZ, KEIN DATENSCHUTZ. Die von anderen Usern veröffentlichen Bilder, entsprechen nach unseren Erfahrungen in keinster Weise der Realität.
