We had come to this restaurant several times before Covid and remembered it as a very good and somewhat authentic Mexican place with great drinks and food. Unfortunately, since then it seems that something has been lost…
Service: Our server (a very nice Asian lady) was very attentive and polite and left us a good impression. However, the staff at the door left us waiting for a few minutes so they could finish their (obvious) training of a younger server. I do not understand why this would be allowed... why keep the customer waiting like that (we had a reservation and the place was practically empty)?? And why was the very first thing that she told us "you must vacate the table within 2 hours"... how rude!! Be more polite please!!
Drinks: still fairly good but way overpriced. The Margarita was only average and the size of the drink was very small for the price (considering it was full of ice cubes too) ... what a disappointment!
Food: Again, very average dishes for such high prices, and the servings were too small, we honestly left the restaurant feeling a bit hungry! Maybe a good suggestion would be to fill the plates with "standard" extras, like rice, a little salad, condiments, etc and allow the customer to order extra sides if wanted... my friend ordered the Burrito without any sides and it just came plain on the plate with nothing else! Same with the Cheeseburger! So in order to fill the plate the customer should order the extra sides himself, and this of course adds to the price!! THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT WAY TO DO THIS!!! Usually in a Mexican-Texan place you expect big portions and plenty of food on the plate! So the "cheap" cheeseburger goes from a relatively average 14 euro to more than 20-23 when you add the extras! Also, try bringing the basic tortilla chips with two dips to the table as a standard (again, most Mexican restaurants do this!) , you can charge it some way of course but it gives patrons the good impression and something to nibble on while they wait.. The beef/meat proportions was lacking in all of the dishes and the cheeseburger was dry and tasteless (and too small)
PLEASE IMPROVE YOURSELVES GUYS, IT WAS MUCH BETTER BEFORE COVID, and please train your servers to be more customer oriented! What a shame that you have somehow ruined our good impression of this place...
Read moreMy recent visit to Restaurant Enchilada in Hannover left much to be desired, particularly for anyone with an appreciation for authentic Mexican and Latin American cuisine. While I had hoped for a flavorful and enjoyable meal, the experience was unfortunately quite disappointing. The most perplexing and frankly off-putting aspect of the meal was the presence of a heated avocado. This was genuinely disgusting and completely contrary to how avocados are prepared and enjoyed in traditional Mexican dishes. Avocados are meant to be fresh, cool, and creamy, providing a refreshing contrast to other flavors and textures. Heating them turns them mushy and can impart an unpleasant bitterness, entirely ruining their natural appeal. This single detail was a glaring indication that the culinary approach at Enchilada significantly misses the mark. Beyond this particular culinary misstep, the overall quality of the food was subpar. It lacked the vibrant, fresh flavors and careful balance that characterize true Mexican and Latin American cooking. It felt as though the dishes were prepared without a clear understanding or respect for the rich culinary traditions they aim to represent. I sincerely believe that Restaurant Enchilada needs to invest in some serious research and development regarding authentic Mexican and Latin food preparation. A deeper understanding of the ingredients, techniques, and cultural context would undoubtedly lead to a vastly improved dining experience for their clientele. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment to those seeking genuine...
Read moreSUCH potential, but majorly misses the mark in quality of food. The marketing, the branding, so cool. Not over the top and corny, but actually really cool vibe. Staff was so kind. Sadly the classic margaritas were water. And the enchiladas — you know, its namesake — came as small, rolled up, soggy burritos beyond DROWNING in this awful nacho cheese sauce. We are Mex-Americano so we know and appreciate anything from the real deal to cliche TexMex…..this was a total side step. I left half of mine in the bowl (let’s start there…enchiladas so soggy and cheesy they are served in bowls??)…and the other party left theirs almost all in bowl. Was truly really nauseating cheese sauce. Also served with “Mexican” rice and quinoa?! What in the metaverse is this?? Sorry, but margaritas and enchiladas should be your bread and butter. Quality was way lacking. But I guess if you are okay with cheese soups and a spot to hang after work with colleagues,...
