MyCurrywurst — Restaurant in Heidelberg

So, normally I wouldn't say anything and bite the bullet but after sleeping one night over it - I can't.

I come to Heidelberg every few years and this place is always on my bucket list as they have super spicy currywurst.

When placing my order I realized that the former German staff is no longer there and now some guys from the far East are operating the place (at least when I was there).

No hate against any nation BUT if you want to work in Germany either speak our language or at least good enough English to understand what clients want..

My Order - Sausage, fries, mayonnaise, fresh onions and level 5 sauce with a kakao drink.

Sat down and all people after me were served ahead of me so when I got up to ask where the order is the next confusion began...anyhow when it was finally prepared no fresh onions as only roasted onions are available but due to the lack of communication methods people were unable to do the bare minimum.

What surprised me the most is that the chili sauces are no longer sauces and are added as a powder to the sauce - maybe this is new but its ridiculous! The idea of the spice levels is to have intense chili flavors in your mouth but how should the flavor unfold with dusty powdered chili without any real taste?

I am really sorry to leave a rating like this but either get people that speak the local language to a certain extent or close the doors as this cannot be the new level of hospitality in...

This is one of the well-known German Currywurst spots on the main street of Heidelberg. For €9.90, you get a menu that includes Currywurst, fries, a small drink, and a tiny piece of bread. But honestly, the portion of sausage is quite small, so if you’re looking for a filling meal, this probably won’t cut it.

They offer two types of sausage, beef and pork. Personally, I’d recommend the pork; it has more flavor, but of course, that depends on your taste. The space inside is pretty small, but there are outdoor seats available, depending on the weather.

Trotz der guten Bewertungen war unsere Erfahrung leider sehr mittelmäßig.

Das Ambiente des Restaurants war unserem Empfinden nach nicht sehr einladend, eher dunkel und wenig gemütlich. Aber das ist subjektiv, und muss jeder für sich entscheiden.

Das Bild setzte sich in der Bestellung/Service fort. Es war zu unserem Besuch sehr wenig los, und dennoch wurden wir nicht freundlich "empfangen" oder "mitgenommen". Selbst als wir sicherlich einige Minuten vor dem Tresen standen um zu überlegen, was wir bestellen wollen, erfolgte keine Aufklärung oder Hilfe zum Angebot. In anderen Läden wird man zumindest gefragt, was die Vorstellung oder der Geschmackswunsch ist, um die Speisekarte daraufhin entsprechend anbieten zu können, oder sich durch Empfehlungen vielleicht mal auf Neues einzulassen... Wir wurden auch nicht gefragt, welche Art Wurst wir gerne möchten. Ebenso das gefärbte Wasser in den Getränkespendern wirkte wenig einladend.

Unsere Bestellung wurde dann eher träge und anscheinend "frei von Interesse" aufgenommen. Und wie wir bei Abholung festgestellt haben, auch nicht komplett. Der Mitarbeiter, der die Bestellung aufgenommen hatte wirkte dezent überfordert, sein Kollege entschuldigte sich zumindest und kümmerte sich dann zuverlässig um den Rest.

Dann hatten wir unsere Speisen und der erste Eindruck setzte sich leider fort... Meine Currywurst war maximal lauwarm, und die Wurst eine einfache weiße Bratwurst mit mäßigem Geschmack. Die Soße war ganz okay, aber es fehlte an Frische und Finesse. Hier haben wir schon deutlich bessere probiert.

Dann bleibt nurnoch der Wert. Verstehen Sie richtig, die Currywurst war ganz in Ordnung, aber aus meiner Sicht nur Mittelmaß. Ich hätte lieber etwas mehr bezahlt, und dafür ein durchweg leckeres Produkt probiert. Und "preiswert" war es nicht. Eine Portion Süßkartoffelpommes für 5,-, die nur wenig knusprig waren, ist nicht angemessen.

Bei der Anzahl von gastronomischen Mitbewerbern in Heidelberg, frage ich mich, wie dieses Konzept funktioniert. Wir kommen leider nicht wieder, aber vielleicht hilft dem Besitzer oder der Besitzerin unsere Erfahrung, um das ein oder andere zu...
