Café Villa — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Absolutely terrible service. Walked in and tried to order immediately as we had seen the menu items outside, but the waitress told me to go look at the menu, and once again after I tried explaining that we already know our order. (In addition to this, the waitress told me "you are very.." and shook her head dismissively.

After 5 minutes, we finally were able to place our order. After another 15 minutes (it wasn't a busy period), the food arrived and it was alright, nothing special. (We ordered a gulash and honestly, we had a better gulash at a Wochenmarkt in Frankfurt, made by a butcher who just reheated it in a microwave). So technically a full out kitchen still lost in flavour to a guy in a van with a microwave.

After our meal, we were told we were not able to pay in card, despite them having card facilities. Then the waitress (the exact same one that dismissed us multiple times), asked us how much we were going to tip her. When we refused to tip due to our treatment, she immediately turned sour, very reluctantly gave us our proper amount back and once again, and said something under her breath that was definitely not of a good nature.

In essence, if you want to endure terrible service and a long wait time, just to pay a higher amount for an average meal, this is the perfect place for you.

If not, just avoid this place and find...

We were out for a walk and decided to sit on their terrace for a drink. We were informed that it was happy hour so we thought we were lucky, far from that. When the waiter came with the cocktails we were asked to sit inside cause they were closing the terrace, something we were not informed when we ordered the cocktails so we had to sit inside in such a beautiful summer night. When we got our cocktails one of them was so strong than it was unpleasant to drink it. When I putted it aside the waitress came and asked if everything was ok and when we told her she kindly offered to change the drink. In the end they diluted it a bit and it was god enough. The most shocking came when we wanted to pay, we had no cash and they didn't take card payment under 20 euros, we were kind of shocked so we asked if she knew where could we find an ATM to get some money and pay. She didn't know so the only way we were offered to fix it was to order two extra cocktails and pay 24 euros. After the first experience we decided to decline the offer so we had to pay 20 euros when we had only consumed for 12. We will definitely stay away from this place for the rest of our holiday and of course not recommend this...

Terrible service, they make you wait. My food wasn't nice.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone, but if you are there. Pay attention with the amount you are paying. I ordered for flammkuchen (7,60€), paid 20€ (by cash because they don't receive card there) and the waitress gave me 12€ back. She saw that I was dumbfounded when she is trying to go back to her service so she said "yeah?" With the money still in my hand, I let her know that she didn't return me the right amount of money. The reason she said was because she don't have 60 cent (in this case, it should be 40 cent..). Only after that, she asked if I have 60 cent, and I said yes, and she return me the right amount. (It is obvious to me, that there are enough coins for 40 cent in their wallet when she opens it on the table and even if my eyes made a mistake, the right approach could have been letting me know, and finding the way to return the right amount, instead of just receiving it as tip without consent).
