This experience starts with the reservation process online, the website is user friendly and the table reservation was done without any problem. We arrived to the restaurant on time and our table was ready.
Latin music was playing, the decoration on the walls went perfect with the restaurant's concept: wooden tables, revolutionary generals' portraits, Mexico's map, ancient looking statues, etc. At 22:30 the light color changed to the reddish light you can see on the pictures.
Reviewing as an authentic Mexican *
We ordered "tres mini burritos" and a "plato mexicano", which were fantastic. The only issue was that the corn tortilla was hard, but it didn't affect the overall perception. As a dessert, we ordered churros, which again surprised us with their amazing flavor.
To drink, we ordered some margaritas. They were super good, a bit strong but the taste was good. We also ordered a baileys colada, a sex on the beach and a mojito. The baileys colada was on point, the sex on the beach was "meh" (the flavor was just not right, trust me, I know what ome should taste like), and the mojito was undrinkable (even if the presentation is amazing, the flavors were too intense to enjoy: a lot of sugar and a lot more of sourness.)
The service was good, waitress was friendly and everything in the order was right. She reacted a bit surprised when we told her our experience with the mojito, which she tried to fix, and at the end she took it away and deducted it from the bill.
Overall it was a nice experience, would definitely go back and...
Read moreWhen reserving a table you are informed that you only get the table for 2h. That's kind of OK (well you accept it or you go somewhere else). Then arriving at the restaurant you get told to leave the place in 2h as a reminder again. Well... Then we were very surprised when the waiter came to our table after 1.25h to tell us "this is your final round". We had starters, main dishes, cocktails and we would have ordered desert, cafe and more cocktails but well, if they don't want my money they probably have enough. We then supported another local restaurant at a prestigious location and had desert and stayed without any time limit. P. S: happy hour cocktail had little alcohol, as also mentioned in other reviews.
On the owners response: if the place is such an extraordinary venue in your eyes that a guest has 1.25h to finish up eating to "make it possible for other guests to have a place" I am (we are) more than happy to free up our slots forever. Though just wondering: tables weren't even all occupied when we left...
The 2h slots are not a guest focus it's obviously to make as much turnover as possible in one shift. Telling guests it's for the guests sake is...
Read moreI've never been fond of this place - food is some sort of bad/bland version of mexican and over priced. If necessary, I go occasionally because of group dinners.
We were there in late September and the waitress dropped appetizers on the floor before reaching our table and nacho cheese splattered all over my jacket, hair and jeans. She walked away immediately, taking more than a few minutes to come back with anything to clean things up. Eventually she offered to cover the cost of my one drink and to pay for cleaning of the jacket and promised that management would call us to resolve the jacket cleaning costs as it can not be dry cleaned. Took down our phone number, name and address and guess what? No one ever called. Now I have a nice Vaude jacket with splattered...
