The Hotel Felsenkeller is a typical German, non-chain hotel – simply and plainly furnished, clean, neat and comfortable. The rooms are of medium size, come equipped with a good internet connection and the owner’s family are warm and welcoming. At times when the reception is not available, you are given a key to the outside door and can come and go as you please. My room was located directly underneath the Hexenturm and had a small balcony. It was quiet and provided everything that I needed. I dined in the hotel on one occasion and had a very nice Weiner Schnitzel with a pepper sauce and potatoes. The breakfast room was pleasant and served good breakfasts. The foyer had nice seating where you could wait for friends and colleagues. The quiet bus station is located immediately outside of the hotel and buses can take you directly to Idstein or Wiesbaden stations and thence to Frankfurt airport (note for travellers – you can buy a ticket on the bus straight through to Frankfurt Airport, i.e. for bus + train travel). All in all I am very happy to recommend this hotel situated in the pretty German town of Idstein and enjoyed...

Extremely grateful for this hotel and owner! My family had a last minute change of plans with no hotel booking. We arrived around midnight and everything was closed. Obviously this was our fault. However, the owner was able to squeeze us in for the night. I wish we could have stayed longer but we needed to leave for the airport. She went out of her way to find public transportation routes as well as taxi options for us. She taught me about the town and community. I would visit and stay again just for her hospitality. The tower you can see from the breakfast eating area. It’s right in the heart of town and she has a flyer for you to take around.

The breakfast is the typical European style: meats, cheeses, toast, juice, hard boiled eggs, and coffee....
