Amazing service! The owner was so friendly and took the time to talk to us and give recommendations. He even used his phone to translate some things to make sure we understood. He recommended the Croatian beer and Croatian red wine, both excellent recommendations that we even bought bottles to take home with us. Two people ordered the mixed plate, one person ordered the fitness salad and I wanted to order the meatballs. Unfortunately they weren’t available but the owner recommended another dish, the cevapcici platter and it was great. He brought the coleslaw before the meal. It was fresh and not overpowered with vinegar. The meals were excellent. The mixed plates and cevapcici came with grilled vegetables and stuffed mushrooms that were delicious and also French fries. It was a lot of food and he was happy to pack up the leftovers. He also brought us an after dinner shot on the house and then an after dinner cocktail on the house as well. They’re open for lunch and dinner but not closed in between which is great if you’re looking for a late lunch or early dinner. Amazing place, it’s unbelievable that in the heart of Kaiserslautern we can find traditional Cevapi, pljeskavice, pita and krempita. Let’s not forget about the Ozujsko pivo, as well as great Dalmatian and Slavonian vine. They even have Cedevita, for some of us who grew up drinking this stuff just a thought of it brings up the great memories. Food is first class, atmosphere is welcoming, service is fast and attentive. This is type of restaurant that needs to be visited often and frequently, still every visit will reveal a new gem...

Leider musste ich feststellen, dass man im Hause Familienhaus Balkanküche nicht sonderlich viel von Service am Gast hält. So wurden seit geraumer Zeit Schnitzel Wiener Art (aus Schweinefleisch) als Wiener Scnitzel angeboten. Dies ist Betrug am Gast! Erst seit gestern - dem 21.07.2024 wurde die Bezeichnung auf Wiener Schnitzel aus Schweinefleisch umgeändert. Und auch erst auf intensive Belehrung. Hier kommen jedoch Eigensinn und/oder mangelnde Bildung zusammen, denn statt einfach die korrekte Bezeichnung Schnitzel Wiener Art zu benutzen, besteht man im Hause Familienhaus Balkanküche auf die falsche Bezeichnung Wiener Schnitzel. Dies mag kleinlich klingen, hat aber viel damit zu tun, was man als Gast erwarten darf, wenn man eine Speise in einem Restaurant bestellt. Wer eine SacherTorte bestellt, muss schließlich davon ausgehen können, das es eine echte Sachertorte ist und keine, die so ähnlich schmeckt. Das lässt sich fortführen mit z.B. Parmesankäse, Champagner usw. usf.. Offenbar handelt es sich beimFamilienhaus Balkanküche schlicht und einfach um eine Spelunke, die auf Restaurant macht und wo man null Respekt vor den Gästen hat. Ich kann diesen Ort nicht empfehlen!
