Why you should come here: -Mikomi got the ambience and decor of 90's japan with tons of street foods banners hung up from every inch of the store -excellent noise level; not too many sitting place and the music is well adjusted as background noise -2 in 1 Japanese and Chinese cuisine
I ordered the wantan soup and my friend ordered miso ramen that comes with a portion of karaage.
Food: -the wantan soup comes with plenty of hand made wanton but no noodles. Personally, this is quite good becuase it means I get to enjoy a light meal that won't make me feel like I'm a stuffed turkey. -the ramen was good, albeit maybe too mildly flavoured in my opinion -karrage was massive. They came in 4 pieces the size of eggs. They are unlike any karrage I have tasted here; thin and crispy skin, springy and a bit on the dry side but in a good way -price is also on the good side, with both dishes costing less than 14.9 euro each and portioned just right (enough to make you feel sate)
Me and my friend came to Kiel with a mission to enjoy the christmarket with thick snow. And instead we found this brilliant "hole in the wall" tucked right in the center of Kiel. I think our derailment that speaks to the good experience...
Read moreWe came here due to the good reviews. I saw that they were selling Biang Biang noodles and immediately craved some.
That being said, the noodles that they sell are in appearance similar to Biang Biang noodles, but they do not come close in taste. I was missing the Szechuan pepper. Instead, it was more of a hot pepper flakes situation.
We had the spicy version with both beef and chicken. The chicken was on the dry side. The beef was tender and there was quite a lot of it.
My main concern would be that the noodles did not feel like they were freshly prepared. They lacked the spring and bouncyness and tore easily. In terms of quality, this is a step back from other shops that do prepare them on site from scratch.
As other reviewers point out, there is lemonade and water available, but no beer.
All in all, it’s fairly good. I am glad that Kiel has a shop like this. I wouldn’t necessarily come here again for the Biang Biang noodles, but I might...
Read moreBig plus point for us is : there is HALAL sign. So we can eat comfortably in this restaurant. Also, the employee who wrote our order can speak English fluently.
Another plus point is one of their employee help us to call the ambulance when our son got accident (it’s our fault not pay attention) after eating there but not far away from the restaurant. He even accompanied us to wait until the ambulance came. I forgot the name of the employee. If you read my review, thank you for your help.
Back to food review. We sat outside and the service took not too long. We ordered 3 different menu’s.
The food came with big portions and taste so delicious. We are surprised that additional noodle we ordered, came in full bowl. Even thought it wrote only small portion. Overall we really recommend Mikomi Kitchen. We are happy customers. Recommend for tourist who stroll around old...
