Altes Brauhaus — Restaurant in Koblenz

If I could give it zero stars, I would. We made reservations well in advance. When we arrived, we were seated immediately, but they put us at a table that was right at the bar where servers were going in and out. I could not even pull out my chair without being in the way. The table was extremely small. There was no way we could order something to eat because it wouldn't fit on the table. When we told the server we were leaving because we were not happy with the table, she walked away with a word. Not an apology or offer to move us to a different table. We were extremely disappointed as we were looking forward to the experience.

Update: We decided to give this place a second chance. We did not have reservations, but they did put us at a small table at the bar. I'm not complaining about the location or size of the table because we didn't have reservations. We were just going to have drinks this time. My husband asked the man who took us to our table if they served cocktails, and he replied yes and showed me them on the menu. When the server came, my husband and his friend ordered a beer, and I ordered a cocktail off of their menu. The server just stood there looking at me with a mean face. My husband said that we were told that they served cocktails, and I pointed it out on the menu. The server rolled her eyes, muttered something under her breath, and walked away. We had no idea if I was going to actually get my cocktail until FINALLY she brought it. By the way, we had watched the bartender make several cocktails before I ordered one. If you don't want to serve cocktails, don't put them on the menu. If they are on the menu, don't make people feel bad about ordering it. That's the last...

We went here with my family because of the nice reviews. We ordered some drinks and some brauhaus bratwurst for lunch (number 7 and 28). To be honest, the bratwurst wasn't very special. The taste was okay but it was not juicy at all compared to what we had in the past in other German places. The amount of meat you get is pretty impressive though.

What really didn't deserve more than 1 star was actually the attitude of the staff. When the waitress came to take our drink order, two of us ordered and the rest were checking the menu as there was quite a list of selection of beers. Just when they were about to order, the waitress just walked away without saying anything and with no intention of coming back. When the two ordered drinks came, brought by a different waitress, she was surprised that we wanted to order the remaining drinks.

Some time later when the first waitress came to take our food order and we were basically treated with the same impatience even though it was not busy at all in the restaurant.

Very popular and busy place. Be careful when making reservations. We made a reservation for 20. We had a written confirmation of the reservation * for 20 * from the restaurant. When we showed up, they tried to tell us it was for 10, even after we showed them their confirmation to us confirming that it was for 20! Then it took 15 minutes + to find seating for everyone (understandable, especially with how busy they are). What wasn't appreciated was that they:

1. made us feel it was our fault when the fault was 100% theirs. Have the manners to admit you made a mistake and everyone would have been happier.
2. they enforced a set time-frame for our dinner and enforced it from the time of our reservation not from the time they eventually seated us. Again, they made the mistake, but refused to acknowledge it, or even adjust for it. The service itself was good, but an attitude that the customer must be wrong would put them out of business if they weren't usually packed.
