We spent one night in this hotel last weekend (Jan 11) arriving at 1730 and fed € 0.30 into the meter for the night! The hotel is in a great location about 200 meters from the Limburg's altstadt and perhaps 400 meters from the alte Lahn Brucke (old Lahn bridge). Street parking is available and cheap at about 1€ per hour. A pay parking lot (cost unknown) is directly behind the hotel. We were in room 102 facing the parking lot, which was fine since the front of the hotel faces a main thoroughfare. The room was immaculately clean but quite small for German standards. I did see some of the other rooms had balconies (we didn't but it was winter so no matter) and appeared larger than our room. I'd certainly request one of the larger rooms in the future. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The flat screen TV died on us late at night after dinner and my wife, who's the TV wizard in the many, many hotels we've stayed in, could not get it to work again. We didn't report this since it was late at night and we only spent the one night here. Conversely, the bathroom was quite large and also immaculately clean. The only drawback was the liquid soap in the shower was empty so I swapped it with the sink's almost-empty liquid soap (the soap lasted our one night stay so no concerns). Breakfast was fantastic -- definitely one of the best we've experienced in our 9 years traveling throughout Europe. Eggs cooked to order (any style) with bacon were available and quite good! There was a large selection of fresh breads, fruits, meats and cheeses. Good thing as we were there to participate in Limburg's annual volksmarch (hiking) and hiked 11 kms that morning.||||Limburg is a stunningly beautiful town on the Lahn River. Disappointingly, the city rolls up its sidewalks at 1900 at the very latest. Quite surprising for a town the size of Limburg -- we live in Germany so are quite familiar with cities closing down early. The Dom is beautiful (from the 14the century I believe) and the many 1/2 timbered houses are charming.||||Would we stay here again? Yes. Would we spend another night in Limburg? Maybe/maybe not due to the "deadness" come nightfall. Perhaps during their Christmas market we'll try again. The hotel was definitely nice despite its small room...

Read moreIt’s well worth a short stop in Limburg an der Lahn to take in the medieval architecture in the Aldstadt. The Tafelspitz Pension is close to the old town and reasonably priced. Ultra modern rooms are small but with central heating make it a good choice. We only stayed one nite and left early the next day but fell in love with the cute town of Limburg.||The Tafelspitz is ideally located and never far away from any of the town’s attractions. The ground floor is a coffee house through which you pass to get to the stairs to your room. I had problems with the booking as they were very slow in answering emails. To confirm the booking I had to send 3 email queries. The other difficulty is the regular change of staff in the coffee shop. I was never sure if my inquiries or requests had got to the right person. When we checked in, the girl at the coffee counter did the paperwork and gave us the key but there was no other information given. There was no information booklet in the room so we had no idea about breakfast or other details about the place. We found out as we were leaving that there were drinks and snacks available for the guests in the corridor.||Sleeping was fair – soft mattresses and pillows are not my choice. We were at the back of the place overlooking the car park so there was no traffic noise. However someone dropped something that sounded like rocks in a bucket outside my door at 0521 - I was less than impressed!||Breakfast was okay – normal Continental fare was offered, but no hot choices. ||Positives: Location, modern rooms||Negatives: Communications problems with email and different staff||Would I stay there again or...
