Café at the Botanical Garden — Restaurant in Munich

Location is great just right in the middle of Botanical garden. Clean and tidy. Nearly full because of hot weather. After long walk in gardens, we friends just stop to fuel up for more walk. Very strange when we try to enter in cafe, we are not allowed but just staff so how do you know what they are offering. Anyhow we order just drinks. The waiter (butterfly tattoo) who attend us very attentive but super rude. So we cut the food and just stay with drinks. When time to pay, NO CARD PAYMENT. Then they agree to accept card no less then 30 euros. On top of that we have to spend 15 euros per person to pay 2 bills. The atmosphere was very nice where you can enjoy nature as well as drink UNTIL a guy start smoking and disturbed most of people. I complained to staff to stop him, they made face and walk away 😳. Beautiful location, big disappointment. We tried twice to get something there but just went away in the end. It's so unwelcoming! It all starts with a big sign outside saying they don't take ANY cards! Yes, not even the usual EC card. This is not a small cafe or kiosk, they occupy quite a big space inside and outside and they even say it's a restaurant! Then, there's barely anything in there apart from some uninviting cakes. Lots of alcoholic choices but very hard to find some fruit juices. The staff does not care about you, just going around with the most unfriendly faces.

Such a pity! I love the Botanical Garden but it deserves a much better cafe /restaurant that actually cares about customers. This one reminds me of a state cafe in communist times. In the meantime, I'd rather get my own stuff and eat...

The food was lovely. We had a salad and pizza to share. Unfortunately we had an extremely embarrassing encounter with a member of staff. We ordered a salad without onion, the salad turned up with onion. A tuna salad also arrived. We were told we had ordered the tuna salad, which we hadn't. The waiter walked off, leaving the onion salad and muttering. We called him back to ask for the correct salad. He picked it up and started shouting about it, leaving us very embarrassed.
