Update: After the response from the owner/management, I’ve decided to retract my initial 1 star and make it 4. I’m impressed with the courteous and respectful response. Thank you and I will make sure to visit your cafe again when am in the area.
I visited this Cafe with my husband and a friend. We really enjoyed the caramel cheesecakes and macchiatos. The staff member was able to communicate fluently in German and English and was quite cordial. Unfortunately after I paid, I noticed that I was charged a €2,50 tip without my consent. The staff member never asked and he only showed the total on the card reader which I thought was strange as the total was higher than I calculated. Upon looking at the receipt, I saw why. This is something I will be more conscious of in the future. After my initial review, I received a cordial response from the owner/management assuring that this was an isolated incident and the staff member that did this was warned. However, the rest of the experience was nice. We sat outside and enjoyed our snack. I will definitely visit here again especially after the kind response I received...
Read moreWorst experience I have had in years. After seating us and then ignoring us for more than 10 minutes while drinking coffees with the manager, one of the two waiters took and order, was so rude. Then came back to say they had run out of croissants, so asked what else. Told to “go look for yourself”. Then our kids came in and were told they can’t sit as other people are eating or something, couldn’t understand his German or English. I then asked for coffees and cake take away and was shouted at; “I don’t have to do anything, you have no respect?” Absolute disgrace how rude this waiter was and ruined our day as a family outing to a kids museum . The management or ownership needs to be changed immediately. After being told they only accept cash, not sure why, they then told us they didn’t have change. I haven’t ever been spoke to with such disrespect in any restaurant across 5 countries I’ve lived in. To add insult to injury, on top of paying $5 a coffee, it was cold. Terrible experience and very unpleasant waiters and manager. Absolutely disgusted at being yelled at in front of...
Read moreWe bought 2 ice lollies and asked if our disabled son could have a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. We were told “No that is just for ice-coffee”. We then offered to buy the coffee and the middle aged bald gentleman who was serving us said no again because. “Then everyone will see that and want the same.” He then said something like “Regeln sind Regeln” (“Rules are rules”) and so we paid and left. I ask myself what type of person begrudges a disabled kid a scoop of ice-cream when you offer to pay the price for the ice-coffee under the pretense that everyone will then want that. This is the worst side of customer service that you occasionally find in Germany and I wouldn’t go back here if...
