Chez Fritz — Restaurant in Munich

This place is a contrast of lovely food, beautiful interior and terrible arrogant service. Interior is lovely, however place is busy and tables stand literally 2 cm away from each other. So if you anticipate privacy or want to have some intimate conversation-this is not the right place to go. Waiters and host give you attitude and being judgmental and not helpful. When I asked if they could recommend me some sparkling wine based cocktail as an aperitif the waiter gave me a lecture about how it is a French restaurant and how in France they drink wine and it is not a cocktail bar.... They actually have a whole bar there and-surprise - after senseless and unpleasant back and forth conversation with the waiter we found out that they actually have exactly what I asked for and it was even on the menu. The waiter seemed to be annoyed to be there and was literally rolling his eyes every time we asked him something. We were there on Saturday evening and we constantly felt rushed. I understand it's a busy day for them and I get that they want to have as much customers as possible, but it is not a fast food it's a restaurant where you come not just to eat but to have an experience. My friend organized a prefix menu for his birthday for 12 of us. Unfortunately one person couldn’t join and we informed the restaurant when we arrived. They acknowledged the missing person but never communicated that we would still be charged 12 meals, which we only discovered by looking at the bill. They said we already ordered 12 meals but never provided the last meal, which would have been a wonderful takeaway for the birthday person. Instead they seemed to assume we wouldn’t notice, and then said they couldn’t provide it as a takeaway. I don’t understand how a restaurant can charge for services not rendered 🤯

Beyond this, they spilled champagne over the table then didn’t clean it up and only presented the food options as “beef”, “fish” (because all fish is the same), or “vegetarian”.

OPFER der eigenen SELF-GENTRIFICATION - Gutes Restaurant, aber leider etwas "holprig" - ziemlich teuer and not really up to the "standard" +++

Wäre man (bin ich) nachdenklich, würde man dem Inhaber von "Chez Fritz" empfehlen (der "Laden" läuft sehr gut !), einmal eine Woche nach Paris zu fahren. Besuche (helpful) in der Nähe des Gare du Nord und am Boulevard Montparnasse, Gare nahebei ! Le Select ? Mehr Brasserie als Gare du Nord oder vielleicht "Lipp" (Bld. St Germain, Francois Mitterand) geht nicht ! Welch wundervolle Kellner ! Da muss München noch lernen, merklich, leider ! ++ Fritz : Gute Ware, sehr leckeres Entrecote, kann der Koch ! Sogar in Variationen. Frites sehr gut, knapp unter dem Europäischen Standard, Brüssel. Koch auch mal da hinschicken ! Will help ! ++ Vegetarisch auch gut, und Seafood auch (Garnelen, warm, teuer, aber schon fein). Wein auch, Entre des Mers, 30 €, delicious. Dessert war auch gut, und so haben wir - zu viert - eine ordentliche Rechnung "produziert". Alles fein. Wir hatten, so telefonische Reservierung, von 18.30 bis 21.00 unseren Tisch. Da macht es auch nichts, wenn man etwas nach 20.30 Uhr bezahlt, mit gutem Trinkgeld. SUBSTANTIAL FAUXPAS : Unser Kellner erschien dann (leider, für ihn und das Restaurant) um 20.40 Uhr, daß man nun "den Tisch brauche". Wir sind dann auch zeitig aufgebrochen. In anderen Städten dieser Erde wäre das "Todesurteil", null Punkte. Fritz hat ein Koordinationsproblem, und ist "overstressed". Bedauerlich ! Do not make money on the back of your clients ! - By the way : Der Kellner bestand darauf, daß der Kir "Le Kir " heiße. Egal, Cassis war gut, aber vielleicht mal in den Spiegel schauen. Viele der Lobpreisungen auf Google zeigen - peinlich - eigentlich nur, daß die Schreiber nicht wissen, wie ein wirklich gute Brasserie aussieht. Gilt nun nicht für uns ! Vive la France ! Something to do, please ! ++ Wenn (so tatsächlich derzeit) Rue des Halles als "unprätentiöses französisches Restaurant" im Heading daherkommt und "Chez Fritz" als (sic !) "edle Brasserie", frägt man sich denn doch, welche Spracherfinder denn da am Werke waren. Jedenfalls im Vergleich etwas "abstrus". Darum denn : Einmal sich Brasserien in Frankreich ansehen.
