1 star is too many for this place. WARNING: This is a rip off and a scam. and most of an insult to the italian kitchen Went there for a birthday. 4 people. first thing you notice is the incredible upscale pricing (a "4 course menu at 57€), or a la carte. As an apetizer they served a polenta with something they called truffle. Polenta tasteless, oversalted and truffle not very truffly. The menu started of with a tuna tataki, the tuna was cooked days ago, tasted stale, and was unlike tataki, cooked through entirely, also in cube like pieces. As a primi piatti, they served a mushroom tagiatelle with a beef ragout. the tagiatelle were snapped in half, and undercooked (I enjoy my pasta al dente), the ragout was not a real ragout but rather tiny pieces of meat pan fried. The mushroom sauce contained no mushrooms. At the same time two other people of the party had a pumpkin soup that came at a staggering 23€ a pop. Michelin star kitchens serve soup at 12 - 14€!! the main course, arrived a pan seared fish fillet. the first thing i noticed was the stench that came from the fish and the incredibly hot plate (usual signs of microwave), the fish not only smelled off but the skin loose, and the meat tasted rotten. After sending this back immidiately, the guy comes out with the apparent fresh fish they bought monady, which he then addmited they bought thursday. The highlight was the "grilled fish" two of us were planning to share. They brought a salt crusted fish (where this fish was definetley not baked in this salt crust, as the salt was flaky and white) after telling the waiter that this was not what we had ordered. He went back and promised a fresh fish that would take 20 min. Behold, they came back after 10 minutes, with a fish, the same fish. After i pointed out that there is still salt crust attached to the fish, the waiter was trying to say no no we salted it, until i showed him a big piece of salt crust. After that we were charged 176€ (not paying my own menu or the fish otherwise this would have been a 350€ bill) A disgrace to the italian kitchen, absolute careless and discusting. Gordon Ramseys kitchen nighmare would be...
Read moreWe ordered white wine, which was absolutely delicious: the wine menu is great with a huge selection (mostly average to high prices). When we asked for the menu in order to have diner we discovered that it is not possible to have only 1 course, the minimum is 2. The courses are of normal size (and normal prices), we were not very hungry in the middle of summer so 2 courses were too much for us. Once we announced the server that we were not going to eat, he became quite rude with us, although we had reserved the table we were pushed outside, and we got nothing to eat with the bottle of wine we had previously ordered (without knowing, since we did not have the other menus, that it is not possible to have only one course). As a conclusion we might have come back for trying the food another day when more hungry, but due to the server's rudeness (and lack of beforehand information regarding order specificities) we are definitely never coming back !!
As an answer to the owner message below, since I somehow cannot find how to answer in another message: we were planning to have dinner there of course, we know it is a restaurant. What we did not know, and were not inform about until getting the food menus later, is that you have to eat 2 courses per person minimum. Which we did not want to do, we wanted only one course since we were not...
Read moreI frequent Vinaiolo for business luncheons and for occasional date nights with my wife or evenings out with my friends. I would say I eat here 2-3 times a month. The consistency of the food quality, service, and ambiance is why I make this place my ‘go-to’ Italian restaurant in Munich. I have the privilege of enjoying many fine establishments in Munich, but this is simply a winner due to the consistent outcomes of my experiences here.
Food is top notch. They are creative without compromising on flavor/content while remaining classic italian. Service is impeccable with excellent attention (which, let’s admit it, is not a strong suit in Germany) and the Italian charm (especially M. Titsiano) of the staff make this most hospitable and fun place to enjoy a lunch or evening. The wine menu is extensive with good variety and various price points. However, I do encourage them to add more modestly priced wines (under 50EUR) in addition to their fine list.
The business lunch menu is very good and reasonable. In the evenings the ability to take the specials in addition to a la carte in different portions really show the flexibility of the owner/chef. Love that. Everyone gets what they want without compromise. Highly...
