I was there for a lunch with my friend on Saturday afternoon. After we finished our food I went to toilet and my friend was sitting there.
The woman (who looks like manager) approached to her and asked, "are you done? Or you gonna keep eating." She said we're done. So the woman made a guy to clean up, before we even pay.
The clumsy guy put every dishes and bowl in to the hot pot and tried to take the pile with the gas burner underneath. and next moment the pot tilted a bit so he just drop the pile of food waste on the table, chair and floor everywhere and himself was stepped away from it.
Of course my coat and handbag was covered by the soup and also on my friend's feet too. We were very upset about what happened. The guy who made the mistake asked me, 'how much? I pay.' probably meant the cleaning fee. The woman interrupt him and said, 'We are sorry. when you bring us the cleaning receipt, we will pay. How about that?'
I had no time for that, cuz I was gonna wear it at my trip tomorrow. So I told her that, and she said, 'Is this your only coat? You don't have anything else?' after this stupid and rude question I went very upset. So I said, 'of course I have, but what about now? It's cold and rainy out side and I have nothing to wear!' she said, 'you shouldn't leave your coat there.'
Couldn't believe what I just heard. And then as a solution, She made me pay the food cost of 1 person PLUS two beverage we drank. 'Normally you have to pay 68 euro (or something) but just pay plus two beverage. 38.3 euro.'
I could make them pay for the cleaning, Cost of new coat in case of the Chinese food waste smell and stain don't get removed, and 0€ for the food, but I'm a nice person so I didn't do that and payed 38.3€ as she said.
But still I wanted to tell them how dangerous the way their cleaning. The guest could be burned by the hot soup!!!!
so I said, "What if I was sitting right over there while his cleaning..." and she just cut my words and said
"You are leaving now."
As if I didn't pay what she asked me to and trying to make a noisy situation.
I couldn't stand there anymore. I was totally exhausted by her attitude. I went out from the restaurant shivering in rainy and windy weather, with no indemnification. Holding smelly coat in my hands.
It is very horrible to imagine what if I was sitting there while the guy cleaning. I could seriously get burned. I will never go there again and also tell my friends this story if they ask me about this restaurant.
I can already imagine the woman will definitely say after read this review, 'you don't have to come here anymore, we are popular restaurant. We don't need...
Read morePlease note that I would like to differentiate between the food and the service: food great, service our main waiter great - but overall poor and chaotic.
In the restaurant you get an atmosphere that is quite authentic and comparable with Sichuan hotpot restaurants in China. Sure there is Miso and Curry soup, but let's call it creative freedom :) we had the Sichuan soup and it was great.
The ingredients are fresh and plenty, the meat is tasty and so are the veggie options, e.g. the tofu plate.
So in terms of food I'd recommend visiting Chois.
Now the service is more tricky: We went as a party of ten with several Mandarin speakers. Our first and main waiter was great. Friendly and attentive, he explained everything to us and made sure we get cold drinks quick on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding with the hot pot soups, as we had three different mixes for the table. These things happen and it should not have been a problem at all. Unfortunately, at this point a Mandarin speaking waitress, who behaved as if she was the owner (I don't know if she is), stormed out of the kitchen to our table and aggressively steamrolled our whole experience. The only reason why we didn't get up and leave at this point was the attentiveness of our main waiter. We were hoping for a relaxed and fun family dinner and she did ruin this experience for us to a large degree which was very disappointing. If you read some of the other reviews you'll see that several people have similar experiences regarding the service.
It really is a pity as the food is nice and some of the staff are working really hard.
Two additional notes: Order everything you would like to eat in the beginning. Unlike the hot pot restaurants in China for more ingredients to arrive takes a long time. So your dinner gets basically interrupted for 15-20 minutes before you can continue eating. Get a place on the terrace. Due to all the gas stoves for the hot pots the inside is unbearably hot in the summer. I've also deducted point on atmosphere because they have cramped the maximum of tables inside the room, which is a pity because in general it's a...
Read moreThe best hotpot restaurant in town! Get ready yourself for full booked reservations especially on winter time, so please book and make reservations in very advance. But absolutely recommended and worth it. The price quite expensive tho but you can eat up to 2hours with all you can eat menu. So i recommend to go on lunch at around 1pm until 3pm and don’t eat again for dinner. For the soup: combination between sichuan soup and mushroom soup is very nice. Sichuan has more Chinese spicy pepper with red colour and oil, it’s really spicy for me tho. And the mushroom has more clear broth and umami saltiness. That’s perfect combo of both. Other combination is between tomyum and tomatoes soup. Tom yum has more sour and fishy intense broth. And tomato soup is way more sweet and salty broth. Both of them good combo for you who doesn’t like spicy. Depends on the people you can order 4 people 4 broth and try to share everything. Here you eat per batch. So every 15 mins you can order next batch of order. These can be protein like mushroom, meat, meatballs, seafood, tofu, etc; or veggies like chinakohl, spinach, lotus root, carrots, potato, salat, etc; or carbo like rice, udon, wheat noodle, sweet potato noodle, vermicelli, etc. You can get also nuts and edamame and kimchi for starters. You will get also dipping like sesame paste, garlic oil, sweer sour sauce, mayo. In terms of drink I prefer to just order water because it will not make you very full. Don’t forget also to order matcha ice cream in the end. I like the place ambience, the waiters were very nice and fast. Just you have to order via phone so that make sure you have one phone to order. You can then pay with card or cash, very convenient. The place has 2 floors, they have wardrobe and clean toilets as well. The table maybe needs to be bigger bcs we have so many orders. Overall the taste is very good and absolutely 💯 recommend to try and will come back in the future 😋!...
