I thought this place looked great, so when I found it at a decent price, I chose it for my one night in Munich!||And the location really is good - I dragged my suitcase through the slushy footpaths from the main train station, without needing to get a metro. And the next morning I was able to explore the Sendlinger Tor area it was so close.||But the trouble is that the bedroom was impractical in so many ways!|Firstly there was nowhere to put my wet suitcase - I ended up removing the cushion from the mini sofa (in the bathroom area) and using that.|On the subject of the bathroom - whilst the shower temperature and pressure were good, trying to turn it on without being hit by cold water is a challenge! And the water seemed to leak from the bathroom sink. And there was no bin in the bathroom (just a fixed one beside the toilet).||The bed was really comfortable - just the right combination of firmness and cushioning, and I appreciated the lack of end board (to avoid hitting my feet on). But there wasn't a beside table - just a little stool on one side, and a cubby hole on the other.||One stylish feature that does actually work is the motion sensitive lights below the bed - it means that if you get up in the night you don't have to turn on a full light.||The room just has a shelf and hanging area (rather than a proper wardrobe) but even that is impractical - it's so dark that I couldn't use it to unpack my small bag (I had to use the bed).||There isn't a proper seat in the room - just the impractical hanging cocoon thing. There's no table to use a laptop - I ended up lying on my bed using it.||Even something as basic as the doors don't work - you have to slam them to get them to close properly. This could be dangerous if you end up not closing your bedroom door.||I arrived around 11pm, and asked for a late checkout - but the staff didn't even check the next day arrivals - I was just told that anything after midday was chargeable.||This place looks great, and for one night was ok, but I wouldn't...
Read moreFirst time to Germany and Octoberfest and can say this hotel is in a great location. A lot of great experiences including Octoberfest and restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk. ||Pros: Location| Lobby/bar/restaurant (kind of all one thing but it works)| Staff - most spoke English well enough to understand you. They were | all very friendly and helpful. | Breakfast- My wife was not impressed but I thought it was better than | typical "continental" breakfast you get in a US hotel. | Not obvious but they have a carafe of drip coffee near the expresso | machine.| Quiet - we had a courtyard room and it was very quiet. The | bar/restaurant extends into the courtyard which I thought would be a | problem but they have everyone come inside I think around 10 ish so| we did not hear the bar noise. ||Cons: We had room 20 on the ground floor. Very small by U.S. standards but we expected that. The big issue was the bathroom/shower. The shower is "enclosed" by shower curtains that have about a 3" gap at the bottom. No sill to catch water either. After showering most of the floor would be wet requiring us to utilize more towels to dry it. At first we thought maybe it was a handicap room but the second issue with bathroom negated that thought. The bathroom door is super heavy duty for some reason. I mean like probably fire proof rated. It was heavy to open and close due to the self closing mechanism. Maybe that is code in Germany but seems unnecessary to me. We had to use one of the room stools to prop it open to help air it out after showers.||We stayed with several other couples and saw their rooms which had better bathroom set ups so maybe room 20 is just the one to avoid. Would stay here again just not...
Read moreDo NOT book here! My husband and I booked a stay for Oktoberfest 2020, which was cancelled due to COVID. We contacted the hotel immediately and asked to reschedule our dates for 2021, as we still very much want to visit Munich when it’s safe to travel again. I was told multiple times, by multiple people, that because I had booked a stay that was non-refundable there was nothing that could be done. I kept telling them I did not want to cancel the stay and didn’t want my money back, I just wanted to change the dates, plus add one more in fact. They continued to reiterate it didn’t matter what the circumstances, they wouldn’t help us.
Two phone calls and three email exchanges lead to nothing. The staff even recommended we still come to Munich (????) in September to avoid this problem. That was their solution. So rather than work with customers during this unprecedented-in-modern-times pandemic, they suggested we put ourselves and Munich’s citizens at risk as the best option, rather than reschedule our stay. These people are sick.
Then, after some back and forth, they offered us a 10 percent discount for our next stay. I couldn’t believe it.
Needless to say, we are never, EVER staying here. We had to get our money back through the bank. Rather than help people during a worldwide crisis, this hotel has every intention of sticking it to the customer. They could have kept our money, plus extra, since we wanted to stay another night. Instead we all had to go through this stressful and lengthy process to get it back.
How companies are treating their customers right now means a lot, because we’re all going through a lot. When we do come to Munich, we will be happy to give our $1,500 to another hotel....
