We were here for the celebration of my daughter's first communion, and unfortunately it was a disaster.
First, the table that we booked, instead of as agreed for 19 people, was set for only 14 people. Only over 40 minutes later, after I had to address three different employees, an additional table was finally brought, so that our guests could finally sit down. During this time we were completely ignored by the (few) staff; even our requests to bring some water in the meantime were ignored.
When the extra table arrived, we were finally able to order the drinks, and while our waiter apologized very kindly, as the only one until then, he had to admit that he was not informed at all about our pre-ordered menu.
After we had to wait again, a waitress brought one of the three ordered Prosecco bottles, along with an insufficient number of glasses, and told me that the Prosecco was unfortunately out and that we could only get the last bottle. After she disappeared, we had to arrange ourselves to distribute the few glasses and pour the Prosecco. Astonishingly, two more prosecco bottles did come later.
When four portions of Kaiserschmarrn (for the five children!) were brought and placed on the table, one of the waiters realized that these four plates did not seem to be for our table. Despite the "great joy" of the children, the plates were simply taken away from their noses and only a little later came the "right" portions.
During the whole time we always had the impression that we had to constantly pay attention, whether the correct orders were brought.
At the end we wanted to discuss the bill on the spot, unfortunately we could not do that because, strangely enough, only the part of the bill with drinks and "a la carte" choices was available, without the menus. Apparently, this was due to previous software problems. Strangely enough, however, other groups that had been celebrating there on the day had no problems whatsoever and everything went smoothly. Three weeks later the bill finally arrived. Of course, it also contained big mistakes; in particular, the calculation included 7 menus too many!
The food was, albeit overpriced, ok. But...
Read moreIt takes a special type of genius to take the best place in Munich and turn it into the worst, but this is what has been achieved. Returning here after 7 years, what do we find? Building: in an act of unspeakably barbaric vandalism, the inside has been ripped apart and a funky round bit added, thus completely ruining the conceptual integrity of the building. Beer: the beer here before was undoubtedly the best in Munich and in the top 5 in Germany; an incredible completely uncarbonated cloudy Keller bier that I would come here regularly just to drink. It's now been replaced by something which, while not too bad as such, isn't fit to lace the boots of the old beer; quite gassy and bland and hardly distinguishable from your average Paulaner rubbish. Food: the schnitzel here used to be the best in Munich. Now? It's obviously pre-made because the crust, smelling of stale oil, is completely detached from the bland overcooked beef. To add insult to injury, they charge 28 Euros for it. 28!!! To put that in context, Figlmüller, the best place in Vienna, only charge 18!!! What a disgrace. I didn't even get a chance to explain this, as we just got a muttered "das schmeckt" without even looking at us and the plates snatched away before I had a change to speak. Of course there was no query as to why 80% of the schnitzel was untouched; nobody could care less, it's not that sort of place. Whoever is responsible for ruining the old Nockherberg should hang their...
Read moreUnfortunately, our experience with the Biergarten was really bad. My husband and I booked a table in the garden for 8 persons on the 20th May, 2021. We outlined in the online reservation that it was for a special event (our wedding day), the reservation was confirmed and all seemed in order. However, when we showed up on that day with our guests, we got 2 tables in a completely different area to the one we requested and we were informed that the kitchen was closed so only self-service available on that day. We asked if at least they could put everything on one bill, but the manager said no, so my husband had to stand there paying separately for each of our guests. Then we asked for a bottle of Prosecco with nice glasses to propose a toast, but we were told they can’t give us glasses as they get broken a lot. Eventually, we asked for a desert but again we could not get it because the kitchen was closed. A really really bad performance, and a terrible service. We made the reservation 6 days in advance, we left our email address and phone number and noone informed us that the kitchen will be closed and service not possible on that day. Quite disappointing experience especially on such...
