Feinkost Al Forno - München — Restaurant in Munich

Cozy and homey Italian place, perfect for when I want something homemade and simple like pasta. It’s more like a shop packed with Italian wine and goods with a few tables inside, outdoor seating when the weather is nice, run by an older Italian couple. I saw a freshly made spinach pie on the counter so decided to try that immediately, it was very nice, their breads are to die for, the pizza bread is basically like getting free margarita pizza! We had the truffle ravioli(amazing!) and Gorgonzola broccoli tagliatelle, very flavorful, and the price is probably among the lowest in Munich! The pizza and tiramisu were not very good though, will try another dessert next time, they have cannoli as well. The lady was very nice and talkative to us, probably because I was with an Italian friend, but she told us she has been in Germany for 35 years so she’s practically half German. Tip: Always ask for the price of everything you order.

As some reviewers have noted, certain items not listed on the menu board, such as drinks or salads, can be surprisingly expensive. We were charged €7.90 for a single glass of house wine, supposedly the cheapest wine on the menu. Honestly, it feels like a scam. The prices on the board give the impression of a fair, affordable place, encouraging you to sit down. Unfortunately, the hidden costs and upsells can quickly turn it into an unexpectedly expensive meal.

The food itself didn’t really wow us, either. The pasta was fine, but the aubergines in the Parmigiana di Melanzane could have been cooked much better. If we had known how high the bill would be, we probably would have spoken...

Mal eine "Bewertung", die sich ein bisschen auf vorherige Bewertungen bezieht, die teilweise einen rassistischen Beigeschmack haben:

Natürlich scheint das Restaurant-betreibende Pärchen nicht wirklich 100% italienisch zu sein, na und? Gäste, die das zwar raffen und als unauthentisch bemängeln... an Euch hätte ich folgende Fragen...

Lebt Ihr noch in der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit? Was entscheidet darüber ob das Essen authentisch ist oder nicht? Können nur Italiener 100%ig authentisches italienisches Essen zaubern? Wie findet ihr das Wahlprogramm der AfD so? Ist eine 100%ige italienische Abstammung ein Merkmal für gutes authentisches (italienisches) Essen? Kann man als nicht-italienisch aussehende Person, nicht auch Italienerin sein? Hätte noch weitere ähnliche Fragen, aber Ihr checkt es schon oder? Hört auf Restaurants als unauthentisch zu bezeichnen, nur weil die Restaurantbesitzerinnen scheinbar äußerlich nicht mit euren klischeehaften Vorstellungen matchen!! Auch ein Deutscher kann gutes Sushi zubereiten, auch ein Vietnamese kann ein hervorragendes Schnitzel zaubern... hört auf Menschen anhand ihres Äußeren zu bewerten!

Nun meine Meinung zum Restaurant: Bei Al Forno ist auf den ersten Blick alles Mittelmaß. Solide, nichts Aufregendes, einfach okay. Die Beiden Restaurantbetreibenden sind nicht mehr die jüngsten und deshalb holt man halt mal sein Essen selbst ab, total in Ordnung. Das Essen ist okay/gut, die Preise dafür sehr gut. Getränkepreise sind etwas gehobener. Manchmal ist der Service etwas grantig, aber herzensgut. Passt, wir sind in Bayern. Der Koch ist auch ein lustiger Dude, hatte letztes Mal lustige Sprüche in Petto. Ein ulkiges Pärchen irgendwie, das ihrem Laden einen unterhaltsamen misch-masch Charme verleiht.
