KONO is mostly known as a place for Korean-BBQ place. So each table comes equipped with an electric grill at the center, where you can barbecue the meat slices etc. that go with the BBQ menu. The portions tend to be very large and meat-heavy, which partly explains the steep prices. The food also tastes very good -- but probably more recommended to meat lovers rather than vegetarians. The place has a fancy touch. However, they played pretty loud electronic dance music all night long -- not the kind of laid-back atmosphere for relaxed dining and conversation. The waiters themselves were fairly decent. But seeing the restaurant's ambition and price level, one might ask for a more friendly and flexible welcome. We were a bit early, but were not offered a different table and snacks but somewhat rudely brushed off. Also, we were told straight away that we had to leave after 2 hours sharp -- which also felt somewhat brisk and inflexible. Again, the food is great, even considering the price level, so that makes up for it.

It was our first experience with Korean style grill as before we only tried hot pot. We were both pleasantly surprised. The very friendly waiter explained to us all the rules of Korean grill and how it works so that we would be comfortable when eating the dishes. We decided upon a platter of various meats. What is worth mentioning is that there are already pre set grill sets from which you can choose a type of meat that you would like to eat. The set for two people already came with a variety of side dishes, which we loved as they greatly complemented the meat as well as we didn’t have to choose. The set also had soup. Very nice design, looks elegant however the atmosphere is just right, without any fuss. Short waiting time and great service. I definitely recommend. Next time when we will be in Munich we will definitely come back.

Glad I went, probably won't go back. Overall, this was a restaurant I was really looking forward to trying out. The food was pretty good, but also overpriced in my opinion, especially compared to other Korean BBQ restaurants in the area. KONO seems to try to differentiate by being more upscale, but they failed in that endeavor when the waiter messed up our order no less than three times. It's also a lot more crowded than I would expect for an upscale restaurant as both our table neighbors were so close we could have shared their meals. All things considered, I was not impressed with anything other than the Korean chicken. If asked to visit again, I'll just order like four of those.

KONO Korean Steakhouse – A Culinary Gem in Munich

My wife and I recently dined at KONO Korean Steakhouse, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers a modern yet cozy atmosphere, blending contemporary design with traditional Korean elements, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable meal.

We opted for their signature Korean BBQ, and the quality of the meat was superb. Each cut was tender, flavorful, and perfectly marbled, making the grilling experience interactive and enjoyable. The variety of side dishes (banchan) that accompanied the meal was impressive, with each offering unique flavors that complemented the meats perfectly. From the kimchi to the pickled vegetables, everything tasted fresh and authentic.

The service was outstanding as well. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure we understood the different sauces and grilling techniques, which added a personal touch to the experience. They were more than happy to guide us through the menu, and their recommendations were spot on.

What truly stood out was the balance KONO strikes between tradition and modernity. While it honors Korean culinary roots, there’s a refined, upscale twist to everything, from presentation to flavor. It's clear that a lot of care and thought went into every aspect of the dining experience.

For anyone seeking an authentic yet upscale Korean dining experience in Munich, KONO is a must-visit. Whether you're a fan of Korean cuisine or new to it, this restaurant will not disappoint. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

Our first-ever Korean dining experience at Kono in Munich couldn’t have been more special, especially as it was for my partner’s birthday. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with beautiful décor that set the perfect mood for the evening. We were lucky to have Henry take care of us throughout the night. As this was our first time trying Korean BBQ, Henry went above and beyond in explaining the menu and guiding us through how to cook the meats to perfection. His friendly and knowledgeable approach really made the experience more enjoyable. The food was absolutely amazing – every dish we tried was packed with flavor, and the quality of the meat was top-notch. To top it all off, they surprised us with a cute little birthday dessert for my partner, which made the evening even more memorable. Thank you, Kono, for making our night so special. We’ll definitely be back to try more of your...
