Maex41 — Restaurant in Munich

I visited the place on several occasions with my husband...Most times good service, excellent food and cheap prices...For a long time was poorly visited however recently it has established as a popular place to have a good happy-hour cocktail on Saturday evenings..So tonight we decided to take two friends of fours for a nice dinner..Yet with reservation we had a problem as we had to switch it from 20.30 to 21.30..We were told they noted it down and it wouldn't be a problem..However, on our arrival we had to wait ca.10 min till they found the table separating it from another group of people sitting together (we were told afterwards that our last reservation hadn't been checked at all so they had expected us at 20.30). Later we waited for our cocktails 15 mins and 1 cocktail in the end wasn't the ordered one so my husband waited for the drink extra 20 mins till he asked about it again...Later at 12.00 we ordered another round...The girl took the order, however after waiting another 15 mins we were told upon asking for drink that they didn't serve alcohol anymore...(it was 12.15 meaning still 40 mins before closing and the girl could have told us the same thing just when she took the order)...We were very disappointed as we bragged to our friends how good place we know with great food and cocktails for cheap..Too sad that it got too busy so...

was not happy. both times i came here i had to wait over an hour to receive the most simplest of meals. the first time, the waitress was plain rude to me. when asking why it took an hour after the appetizer came for the pasta, i was met with a rude response being "this is how things work, the appetizers comes first, then the main meal. i am well aware of how a dinner goes, i simply wanted to ask when the food would come after having waited close to an hour for pasta and tomato sauce. when paying, the waitress ended up giving herself a 10% tip, to which i had to deny. the second time i came, i had ordered a "pizzabrot", to which the waitress serving me, handed me a prosciutto pizza. i then asked to have the ordered corrected. i had to then wait an extra 40 minutes (for pizza dough and tomato sauce...) until they brought out my dish, after already having waited 30 minutes for the wrong thing. i was never compensated for their mistake. both times the restaurant wasnt even full. for how terrible the service is, the food does not make up for it at allll..... wanted to give it a second chance, but yikes. do not go there, so many better options on the same...

I live on Amalienstraße and I'm a Canadian expat. There are tens of restaurants on my street but Maex41 is my favourite go to for every time of day: great choices for breakfast ( incl pancakes with maple syrup!), great choices for lunch and just as many for dinner. I like healthy choices so their chicken salad is my favourite. Still, they seem to have everything and whatever you get is made with fresh ingredients on the premises. Lots of seats though it manages to maintain intimacy. Pretty outdoor garden and even tv for major sport events. I just ordered an Americano - I drink mine black to taste the coffee flavour and theirs is just great!! I couldn't recommend it more...
