great vegan cafe for studying/working, friendly staff.
but, as a female I was constantly harassed, asked for my number, invited to uncomfortable conversations by few men who always come to work on their laptops, but instead look around at girls, change their seating to sit with you for an hour before mustering up the courage to ask your name, where you're from etc.
The tall skinny dark-haired guy named Ferd**and tried to pick me up THREE TIMES, without recognising he talked to me already twice before. I had to show him his number on my phone from the last time when I had to share my number so he would leave me alone and I could study. The muscly guy with big biceps and short hair that looks like a short Jason Statham (forgot his name) only talked to me twice, both when he "noticed something" on my screen and offered advice. I saw a 30y men leave a letter on an underage girl's notebook when she left for the toilet. I was sitting right there in front. you should have seen her eyes, and her laugh. what do 30y men do at Lost Weekend leaving love letters for minors at 11 in the morning when they could just install tinder or go to a bar.
Definitely not a safe space for women. The owners or the manager should do something about this, girls (some minors) are afraid to speak up as most probably aren't western, and don't know that feminism liberates you to speak up and stand up for yourself, and they are AFRAID that there could be confrontation or physical danger. Maybe put up a sign that says "If you are going to harass girls and make them uncomfortable in our establishment, you are not welcome here". This would encourage other girls to help and protect each other when needed. Definitely need to do something about wannabe pickup artists using this cafe's close seating to their advantage to harass underage girls.
Also the cakes are great, they bake them right in front of you. I think they should also offer cow's milk because I've met friends there a few times, and they just had tea when they couldn't get non-vegan milk in...
Read moreIn general a very nice coffee place.
I correct myself regarding the following former phrase "But somehow - without any information to customers that I know of - cancelled their bonus coffee card":
The owner informed me that the card had been canceled for four years now. Given that this is in a student area and frequently visited by students, it seems somewhat unfriendly to them.
However, considering the circumstances of the pandemic, this might be an oversimplified assumption.
Especially gastronomic businesses struggled and still have to make up for lost revenue. If you factor in the ambiance and the option to sit and work e.g. on university assignments, it's quite a pleasant place.
The higher prices might stem from the broader issue of patrons occupying space for extended periods while only consuming tap water.
Having a more inclusive image from the start, the Lost Weekend always has been a great spot for different people with a vast variety of events.
Nevertheless, critiquing the decision to eliminate the bonus card is valid. Beyond the potential to sell more coffee, and without merely focusing on capitalistic incentives, it offers a chance to make coffee more affordable for people, including students with varying budgets.
On the other hand, the choice to forego a bonus card and instead provide students with a place to stay and work is commendable. Increasingly, there are locations where displaying a laptop openly is no...
Read moreGood hipster vibe and nice people who work there. The coffee is better than the average Munich shop but not anything to write home about if you're a coffee snob. But the way they take and fulfill orders makes me knock off two stars of what would other wise by a 5 star review.
The pace of the employees preparing food and drinks is frustratingly slow and often the counter is so understaffed that they cannot delegate. In practice, this means that you have to wait for the person at the front of the line to order, pay AND RECEIVE their order before the line can move forward. Other coffee shops like Man vs. Machine have multiple people behind the bar so the line moves 2-3x faster than at Lost Weekend.
Lost weekend is a good place to go if you are going to stay there all day to work, but if you walk by and poke your head in and the line is long, it's generally not...
