BrewsLi - Der Biermacher — Restaurant in Munich

I write about craft beer professionally in the U.S. So, coming to Germany to try authentic German beers was a huge goal of mine. Of course it was! Traditional German beers are great, don’t get me wrong. I tried so many of them. A good helles is a certain sort of heaven. But, imagine my surprise when I discovered BrewsLi in Munich—after I got tired of seeing the same style interpreted multiple (very similar) ways.

BrewsLi is a wonderful craft brewery—by any nation’s standards—that goes far beyond the limits of traditional München bier styles to create truly amazing and delicious beers. The New England IPAs/Hazy IPAs were as good or better than the ones I get back home. The ambience of the taproom was also fantastic. Low-key, with great music, friendly staff, and a wonderful “neighborhood” feeling.

I wish I could come here every week. Sadly, I have to return to the U.S. But, if you’re reading this, it’s not too late for you. Go drink their beers. Do it. Now. Thank me later.

This was our first stop when we arrived in Munich because the reviews were so good - we were not disappointed! The West Coast and New England IPAs were fantastic, as was the Black Pearl Barrel Aged RIS. You can order in a variety of sizes which is really nice if you want to try multiple brews. The atmosphere was delightful and the service was excellent - our stop here was a perfect way to begin our time in Munich. Some people may wonder why they would come to Munich and want craft beer instead of traditional beer, but I say the craft beer here is of very high quality. Imo the West Coast IPA was good, but the Amber was also especially great. Beer flights come in 4〜6 beers. You can try out different flavors at a reasonable price for craft beer, so I recommend this option for those who wonders what to order. There is food available but not too much, so it's best to use this bar as a second or subsequent stop after eating and drinking somewhere else.
