Living nearby, I used to love Sangam when it opened. You see, I often travel to India and miss Indian food here. I even used to brag that Munich's best Indian place is just nextdoors of my place. Not anymore... Read it the end before you order or decide to go there... Today, after a walk, we passed buy. As we were hungry, we thought to pick up the food directly instead of ordering with delivery, it will be faster FAIL!! The waiter told us it will take about 30 minutes. We decided to wait. FAIL! We were standing near the entrance for 85 minutes!!! Of course all the waiters ignored us, nobody told us it would take longer. Had we known it will take 3 times what we were told, we would have waited at home comfortably and came back, or ordered online. Lieferando has a clear priority at this place, we saw 4-5 meals being taken before our order, even though they earn less with them. Otherwise the place was almost empty, 2, maybe 3 tables occupied. When I finally got the food and paid, I told them this was more than half an hour. (Note, we waited 90 minutes in the rain outside without them giving any update!) The waiter, instead of simply apologizing, became very arrogant and offensive. He said he told us 50 minutes and there is a lot going on today. (Note, 2 tables out of 60 occupied and 4 Lieferando orders.) Then he starting blaming his colleague, who mislead us with the 30 minutes. Which is true, it was not him. But it was him who ignored us, did not communicate with us, and did not even apologize, just rolled his eyes. Probably because I'm a woman, I don't deserve to be respected as a customer. GUYS, YOU NEED TO WORK ON YOUR CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY COMMUNICATION! Nevertheless, I always say if the food is fresh&good, I happily forgive all the long waiting. FAIL!! We have noticed a decline in quality for the past 2 years, and today's experience was the worse. One dish was just blend, without salt and spices, the other had only a lot of chilly (even though in the menu it just shows little spicy, and we are used to eating habaneros, I can't imagine how it is for somebody not this trained) - but had nothing to do with the original dish, as known in India. I can't believe I paid almost 50 euros for such a bad food and experience. Munich has now luckily so many better (and cheaper) Indian options, this was Sangam's last...
Read moreI like Indian food. And when I test a new Indian restaurant I always try my standards like Chicken Masala, Butter Chicken or Lamb with Spinach.
At Sangam in München Giesing I tried their Thalis, where you get three different dishes with salad and Raita. A perfect combination for anybody who is new to Indian food. I did this three times so far. One Fish Thali and twice House Thali, where you get on vegetable dish and two dishes with meat. They don't give you the same combination, when you order there Thalis, which I like. So I now have a pretty good overview what you can expect at Sangam. I had Lamb with Spinach, Butter Chicken, Chicken Masala, Chicken Korma, Vegetable Curry and one dish with Ocra.
I can say all dishes where excellent. Not overspiced, not too hot, just perfect for my taste. I have not tried any Vindaloo dishes, since I am not so much into really spicy. But I might give it a try. I will ask them next time for a vegetable and Tofu only Thali. That might be interesting.
The service is professional and friendly. You feel that this is not a new restaurant. In fact they moved from another location in Munich. You can feel that they are very experienced. They label themselves as "Premium Indian Restaurant". I must say - this claim holds up to the expectation.
You can also sit outside under big umbrellas. I am not sure if they deliver but you can call...
Read moreNot normally having an Indian in Germany I am not sure if the cuisine is different to what I am used to in the UK hence the 3 stars. I don’t want to be harsh but a Jalfrazi which I ordered and in pictured is nothing like a Jalfrazi I have ordered or cooked myself in the UK but it was still ok. No spice which was also disappointing.
I ordered an egg pilau and got a rice with everything in it but no egg.
Look it was all nice and tasty and I’m putting it down to eating in a different country so again don’t want to be harsh but if your used to a UK curry style then it’s likely not for you.
Last thing is that the waiters although nice are just in some mad rush but an unknown reason. Maybe just slow down a bit. Feels like I had to...
