Gasthaus Weinbauer is what I would consider a gold standard in hospitality. The Decor, Staff, food and drink are of a standard that showcases a modern take on Braverian gastronical adventures.

It is set behind a quite street that has a beautiful tranquillity and presence to it. Upon arriving I was kindly welcomed in flawless English and advised to sit outside to enjoy the lovely evening. They had an English menu and even though the specials menu wasn't in English the wait staff member kindly took me through the whole menu. I didn't once feel like anyhting was too much trouble.

After an in point larger recommendation I decided to try one of the specials and the house staple. Due to the level of quality and taste I was further tempted to experience their desert.

The first dish was a take on a salad I thought would be interesting and sounded refreshing after a hot day of running in the beautiful gardens. Please see the images for the meals as I didn't note the names. The balance of flavours, colours and consistency was just incredible. Every bite was well balanced and left you wanting more, this is something I would love to replicate at home.

The second dish I was very excited for, especially after that first dish. They kindly delayed putting on the meal until I had finished my beer. It was an amazing take on Snitzel, a tender cut of pork marinated in a sweet mustard and completed with a crunchy golden pretzel break crumb. I of course marinated the cut in the generous juicy lemon wedge provided. They dish also came with a gentle potato salad the complimented the dish really well.

The wait staff member was super attentive and made sure I was happy with all my meals and give informed recommendations and advice.

Towards the end of my meal some locals had gathered out the front where I was sitting which is always a great sign. They kindly asked me how the food was, I think anticipating the response. We then had a very pleasant conversation before the desert I had ordered arrived.

The desert was a homely and warm dish that I could only discribe as a ciniman sugar dusted apple fritter with vanilla ice-cream, mint and a berry compote. Cooked to perfection an an amaizng way to complete the meal.

I can't praise this establishment highly enough. I have travelled a lot and managed establishments in hospitality as a youngster and this experience honestly brought a smile to my face.

Thank you and if I am ever back in Munich I will be sure to come again

In Berlin, I was told that the Germans in Munich are cold. I felt that more towards Old Town; however, i really was craving some schnitzel before I left the country. I picked this one since it was close to the metro and wow was it an eye changer. First, when I was in Old Town, I was told there was no room for service anywhere. When I went to this place, it was packed, but the waiter said sorry and I said it’s okay I can wait, but she looked worried and said it would take 10-15mins(she was a great hostess), I confirmed it was okay and as soon as the table was available she was right there. The atmosphere was cheerful, the people next to us greeted us nicely. Overall, this was probably the best place I was in during my stay in Germany. I did end up getting schnitzel and it had a delicious taste. I drank two beers and was tempted to eat dessert, but was way too full. This place is a real southern German restaurant that may be the same as the ones in Old Town but it is 100x worth it, whoever wants real German...

I am so glad I decided to come here for dinner my one night in Munich. I made a reservation for one and I was sat at a table with another solo traveler. I ordered the pretzel and the weiner schnitzel based on recommendation and it was SO good. I went with the optional smaller portion for both, which was still gigantic. The waitress was thoughtful and attentive. I ended up loving the company of my fellow traveler so much we shared dessert and a schnapps. I struggled between a 4/5 star review because really it was a 5 star experience accept we had to return the desert for being cold. The waitress happily acted to make things right and removed the bread pudding to bring us another one that was much more fresh. Which to me warrants rounding up to 5 stars despite a hiccup. If you are considering this restaurant you will be happy you decide...

Ok everyone. This is the best restaurant in Munich. No questions asked. If you want a local restaurant, with the best attention and the very very best food, this is the place. It is worth coming from anywhere tou are staying in Munich. It's just a short walk from U-Bahn station Munchner Freiheit. Order the house specialty schnitzel. Best in the world. We came here because we were stating nearby? And had dinner twice in a row, same order. Too bad we did not find it earlier...
