Apfelwein-Föhl — Restaurant in Neu-Isenburg

Amazing! Situated in the 'old' section of the town this stunning little gem is right at the hub of Marktplatz. I had been wanting to visit since reading other reviews and wasn't let down. My German is very rusty (school boy at best) so thank go they had an English menu and a waiter who spoken English fluently. The building has 3 main areas, the street side with 7 generous sized tables. The main area (wooden beams and floors with too many tables to count) and the beer garden to the rear. Being a lovely evening I decided to sit out front (Street side). There is plenty of shade given by the mature trees lining the plate with the only issue being the late evening sun reflecting off the various windows of surrounding houses. The platz is relatively quiet on vehicle traffic with maybe 5 or 6 cars passing in the 2 hours I was there, and then only at very low speed. The menu is traditionally German which is why I chose it. If you are expecting hamburgers and American frankfurters walk away now, these are so much BETTER! I ordered Frankfurters with sauerkraut and a mixed salad. HEAVEN! The salad was crisp, fresh and packed with flavour as well as being beautifully presented. The frankfurters were outstanding, at least a foot long and there were 2 of them and plenty of delicious warm sauerkraut. My waiter was attentive but not over powering, leaving me to finish my meal before checking on me and refilling my glass, which led to a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Company took us there for Christmas dinner. it's a nice place with outdoor/indoor and the food is good. I had my first green sauce with schnitzel and it was delicious, but i can't compare to other places yet. The apple wine was great. I'm giving 4 stars because i prefer more quiet, less packed places, it was so loud we couldn't really hear eachother. Great authentic German food with a lot of taste.

The menu includes all the traditional dishes and the meat is very good. I loved my pork knuckle (big portion also good for 2 people).

The sauces are all very balanced and flavorful. I loved the traditional green sauce made with 7 different herbs.

The service is very friendly and the people are all nice.

There's a nice small garden in the back of the restaurant.

Worth the trip from Frankfurt to enjoy a real German...
