Orto Bistro Bakery — Restaurant in Oldenburg

Finally, I found my favorite coffee in Oldenburg, the place of my birth. Spoiled by too many too good Cappuccino‘s all over the planet, I always struggled finding a minimalistic café in my hometown that offers high quality coffee and the right accompanying atmosphere. Orto does both very well. The place is excellent as they bake/ cook everything in-house. I could not resist purchasing a sourdough bread as well after having tasted the Kim-Chi Grilled Cheese. Also, tap water is for free (!!!), a fact that must always stun one, as we are residing in Germany. The most stingy country when it comes to tap water. Service is very friendly. Cake looked delicious. Will definitely return to try out all the other fresh dishes on the menu. Note that they source ingredients locally too and emphasize...

First of all, I love the concept. Everything seems and tastes like quality. It feels almost like the sweets are healthy as they perfectly hit the balance of having just enough sweetness so that you don't miss it, but not any more. I find it fantastic.

Had the buckwheat pancakes, a pastel de nata, one scoop of the rhubarb ice cream and a cake to go. All of it is superb.

I don't have a picture, unfortunately, but the poppy-seed lemon cake is heavenly and maybe the best baked good...

Das schlichte Ambiente eines Bistros stellt einen krassen und interessanten Kontrast zu den Preisen dar. Ich hatte vom Bistro gehört und habe es einfach mal ausprobiert. Etwas schockiert war ich dann, als ich eine kleine Portion weiße Bohnen a la "cacio e pepe" und einer dicken Scheibe Brot erhielt für 14,50 Euro!!! Beides war wirklich lecker, aber der Preis war für ein paar Bohnen mit Brot einfach zu hoch. Auch die anderen Leckereien sind mit Preisen ähnlicher Anbieter kaum vergleichbar. Ich kann mir den Preis nur dadurch erklären, dass das Essen hausgemacht ist.

Das Servicepersonal ist sehr nett und schnell.

Diese Worte spiegeln sich kaum in der Bewertung wider, da es ja bis auf den Preis nichts zu bemängeln gibt.
