This Cafe or restaurant or whatever it is one of those places that I could rate with ZERO starsâŠ
Must be a freaking JOKE!!!
Location: in the heart of the old town of Passau - Passau is wonderful!
Service: first of all, we considered to be seated because it of their photo based menu, where the food looked great and tastyâŠ
The lady who picked up the order was okay, but wasnât sure if she can speak German or English or only her original language (?!?!)
Ordered 2 big bottles of water. We picked a Wiener schnitzel with potato salad and one steak/ grilled ham with potato saladâŠ
First of all, the food arrived within 2 minutes after we ordered. It has indicated the red flag of the food quality.
The Wiener schnitzel was a few millimetres thick something (room temperature) with the texture of a sponge, some watery liquids came out, what made the bottom of the plate soggy. Honestly, it was the most disgusting food I have ever tried.
The other order, the âhamâ wasnât ham or meat at all. Tasted like the cheap British (think of the cheapest possible one) âSPAMâ, and once we had some cold cuts (German) somewhere⊠so, that was the ham đ€·đ»ââïžâŠ only room temperature of course, and a few marks around like a charcoal roasted something đ
You can read back my previous reviews, this place is ranked TOP of the most horrible places I have ever visited and the most poisonous food I have ever been served with.
We both tasted the food and came to the conclusion to pay and go.
The lady (waitress) and a Turkish lookalike chef were surprised to see us by the till.
We informed them about the food and the concerns. They didnât say sorry or try to make it better, they wanted the (cca) âŹ50 and that was all.
Now I can see other people reviews and the 3.1 star rating of the place but obviously far too late.
Donât let the vibe (Passau) confused you, the food and the local environment doesnât...
Read moreOn a recent morning in Passau, we stopped by this centrally located eatery for a quick breakfast. The place is quite functional, suited for a quick meal, with no particular focus on decor.
I opted for WeiĂwĂŒrste, which were flavorful, served with a well-baked Brezen. However, the presentation left much to be desired, especially with the scant amount of sweet mustard provided. My wifeâs sweet dish was overly generous with poppy seeds, overwhelming the overall taste.
The cafeâs layout featured uneven tables that amusingly caused our drinks to slide toward us. Additionally, itâs important to note that the cafe is cash-only. This detail is mentioned in the menu but in very small print, which is easy to overlook and could inconvenience some guests.
Overall, our experience was acceptable. While the cafeâs location is convenient, the minor drawbacks we encountered slightly detracted from our visit. Itâs a reasonable spot for those in the area who donât mind a straightforward setting and remember...
Read morePassable, but rude. See RSG's review above.
The most memorable aspects were the plastic flowers and the proprietor: super rude. On finishing our meal she demanded "Cash Only!" so I handed her a âŹ50 (meal was âŹ40) ... and she took it and started to walk away, evidently assuming a 25% tip. I asked for my change and she looked at me indignantly and said loudly "What? No tip?!"
The schnitzel was ... see RSG. And the kartoffelsalat (German potato salad) was thin and watery, right out of a can.
The food here won't kill you...but do yourself a favor and walk about 50 meters further to Cafe Rosa where the food is exceptional. And the staff...
