A Slice of Britain — Restaurant in Potsdam

Lovely place. Due to the recent expansion, there's now more room and spots for people who just want to have a casual coffee. The new part is kept in a light tone, decorated with plants and gives you a fresh feeling. It also has high seats for single people and those wanting to drink a cup of coffee while working on their laptop (though right now they can't be used because of the virus). The old part of the café maintains its homely feel, letting you relax, feeling comfortable, the expansion making everything feel less cramped and more open as well. To say this place is one of my favourites is an understatement. Coming here always picks me back up when I'm feeling down. The staff is friendly and the meals are delicious. Over the course of coming here almost every week I've tried just about anything on the menu and there's nothing I dislike. Everything is home cooked and has its own certain special style of taste that Elke gives all of her cooking. The cakes are very good too (I'm especially a huge fan of the lemon tart and apple pie) and if you fancy a scone there's always different types with different flavours for you to try. Honestly the only fault I could possibly find is the opening hours being shorter due to the virus, but that's nothing to lose a star over. It's the virus after all.

Quick tip for anyone planning a visit: during the morning it's better to reserve a table since otherwise you'll probably miss out. Fridays and Saturdays are rather full all day so you might want to call ahead just...

I’ve been to the UK/Ireland a few times now and I’ve never had such a tasty, well-balanced English breakfast like what I got here right in Potsdam. I ordered the poached eggs, my partner ordered the original English breakfast. All ingredients tasted fresh, everything was hot off the plate. We also ordered a scone with clotted cream and jam, which just melted in the mouth and offered that genuine buttery goodness of a true English scone. Usually I don’t have high hopes for “great” coffee at smaller restaurants just because it is usually not the specialty, but I just had the best iced latte I’ve had in months: well-tempered with the perfect amount of ice and a full, soft espresso that was balanced spectacularly with oat milk. We can’t wait to visit again and try other menu items… HIGHLY recommended that you also...

great place with nice people working there and very tasty food. however, the inconstancy of how several dishes are being served is quite upsetting for me sometimes. for example avocado toast may come with fruits or berries, with puffed corn (awesome!), with all kind of random veggies like carrots, paprika, beetroot, cabbage.. or with just a big bunch of salad leaves without any drop of olive oil or any other dressing. that “surprise” topping is a good half of the dish and you really never know what and in which combination you gonna get. never.
